Or 'companions', in the case of certain ambiguously-wizardly alien scientists who run around in time and space.

Re: 'Subtle, Quick To Anger' (O1 Mages, OOC)

I'd rather keep the rest of the OP being roughly equivalent, yes. Of course, I'd point out that Dresden does have a sort of wizardly lair in his basement (or at least did), and a retinue of assistants and allies at his general disposal. They're not quite henchmen, but they might well qualify under l...

Re: 'Subtle, Quick To Anger' (O1 Mages, OOC)

So, a modern-day shift? It might work, though I'm going to request that we specifically avoid making anything that's too much like the Dresden Files.

'Subtle, Quick To Anger' (O1 Mages, OOC)

Okay, from the ashes of an idea I had to make a thread that was more or less a dragon-based roleplaying game. Or at least it was until I saw that SDN had made one, and it had ended somewhat badly , but my ideas were easy enough to modify to remove the dragon aspect, and replace it with magic-users. ...

Re: A mild shift of paradigm: Symphony of the Cosmos

Thanks. I'm hoping to get a brief guide to the central government of the Interstellar Unity and the internal governing bodies that can be found within it done at some point, but it'll take a while to get all of that information together. It's a lot of work to build a bunch of fantasy kingdoms. I can...

HOLY MORFIN FORK~! Dakarne, are you there? are you okay?! This isn't like you! A Universe that isn't urban magical OR Hard-on Science Fiction? I've never done hard science fiction. In the recent hard-versus-soft science fiction debate, I was on the soft side due to my origins in writing and dealing...

A mild shift of paradigm: Symphony of the Cosmos

Okay, this one's been brewing up in various mostly-unposted forms for a long while (but, which I can only apologise profusely for, discussed extensively over various messenger conversations with many of you here), as several different personal settings of mine that have slowly begun coalescing into ...

Re: Birthday thread

Thanks. Though I can't usually do that until after I've been to the bookshop (which is, due to the fact that I live in the arsehole of Lancashire, well over an hour's travel away), and I haven't received the required books via other methods because, due to an odd quirk of fate, I'm currently stuck i...

Re: Magister is Clueless About Astrobiology

That you're including aliens as a plural would indicate that you're ignoring one of a couple of laws of physics (relativity or causality) in order for interaction to occur, at least... That's an assumption which is not necessarily true, Dak, I mean this could be one of those weirdo nerdy hard scien...

Re: Magister is Clueless About Astrobiology

First thing; treat science as a suggestion rather than a rule. This is kind of my first rule of science fiction, since I have a tendency to emphasise the latter word of the two to a greater degree. That you're including aliens as a plural would indicate that you're ignoring one of a couple of laws o...

A character-based game might work better if it's centred around something which allows for the following caveats; All characters are made from scratch, and are both from the same technological level and genre focus. The technological level, genre focus and tone are all fully-established from the ope...

Re: Foiled Again! The Supervillain RP, Recruitment/OOC

I'm not sure there's much room for a dark god in what would at its core be a mostly-human conflict (albeit with superpowers). That said, I may not actually be able to commit to actually providing the reboot anyway because of certain personal difficulties I've been facing recently, and I may have to ...

Re: Foiled Again! The Supervillain RP, Recruitment/OOC

Taking Shroom's idea into account... and expanding maybe outwards in both possible directions from it... I'm going to see about posting this as a retooled idea which incorporates a three-faction approach to it with the extremist Justice Lords type anti-heroes sandwiched between genuine Legion of Doo...

This is unfortunately starting to look more and more like it was a good idea in theory rather than in practice.
