Re: Writing Tips of the Day
Replacing magic with extreme levels of technology (including having dragons, lol) is exactly what I'm doing with Peoples of Almure , in spite of your being less than enthusiastic for the idea. Sure, there's a whole lot of Rule of Cool and creative license involved, but I've actually put a lot of tho...

Re: News Thread
Gotta love it; ever since the Rodney King incident, brave citizens have been capturing the ever-increasing acts of police brutality in this country. And now, faced with the fact that the people actually have some ability to oppose tyranny and expose them, the bastards we call a "government"...

Re: Random ideas (again)
An idea I have is what if there was a universe without sentient life forms? And humanity, sick and F-ing tired of being alone, decided to secretly create some of their own aliens and toss them out there? Of course, that could lead to an Adam and Eve/rebellion/biblical thing with the aliens, or not,...

Re: Official Movie Review Thread
Twilight might have been interesting if had been edited it to add lots more action and over the top shit. Maybe give Bella a katana or something so that she isn't a boring typical 16-year-old-girl. Thus why Underworld was superior; it had a cool plot, Kate Beckinsale, and lots of action. Teeny boppy...

I know I'm not one to talk, but we probably need a global moderator for when Siege is offline. Has anyone actually IM'ed him so he can come in and delete this stuff?

Re: So next week I'll be hiking...
I haven't hiked as long as five days, so I can't really offer any advice other than the obvious hints of bringing a camel pack for water (they come in handy in this summer heat) and a first aid kit.

Re: Hello Guys (introducing myself)
hai Oh, and I don't think people'll get their feathers ruffled if ya don't update in a long time. My own 'verse has been undergoing about a year of off-site revisions and no one's made a fuss about it. Yet, anyway. Oh, and yeah, throwing Siege a PM is a good idea. And unlike OZ, we don't seem to be ...

Re: [WtSF] Word of Angels
This is very good sofar. Dialogue, plot, it's all on a good foundation, and also funny when it needed to be. I lol'd at the Scotlandized version of the trusty old "I swear to drunk I'm not God" line, and at the banter between Taur and Dyna; hilarious as always. :P In true /b/tard fashion, ...

Re: Fantasy 'verse proposal
I'm gonna be nice for once and offer some tips. I'll not parrot what others have said in this thread, save the suggestion to read. I had never even attempted fantasy writing (for those who actually remember, I started out writing sci-fi) until after I had read at least halfway through Lord of the Ri...

I've actually heard (although I hear a lot of things) that Al-Jazeera is a pretty reputable news agency. At any rate, I doubt it's the sort of frothing mouthpiece of religious extremists and terrorism that Faux would have us believe (project much, guys?).

You could always take one ominous-looking region and just put "Here Be Dragons". It's not creative, but it's fucking awesome. It also tells the reader that you just don't go for a stroll in that sort of realm.

Re: Happy America Day!
The lies of tyrants always work best when the populace is ignorant of history. That's why you got more anti-war hippies smoking pot and having secks in the universities, and more pro-war dudes who hunt deer with automatic shotguns while drinking beer and getting into automobile accidents. That's wh...

Re: [RPG] Maelstrom
Angélique proceeded back to where Jenny and the detective were, suddenly noticing a woman dressed in a white skirt and coat approach. She had a middle-eastern skin complexion and wore glasses, the latter of which did nothing to detract from her beauty. Pulling out a small gem she went up to Jenny an...

Later Angélique and her companions had stopped at a lounge to plan their next move. While everyone else was occupied, Angélique took care of an important phone call. "Do you have the girl?" "Yes," Angélique sighed. "But rescue was never part of your command. I had no choice...

"I suggest we run ," Angélique said, grabbing Jenny and the detective as they made a run out the back door. "Where the fuck are you taking me?!" Jenny shouted. "You may hate me for having held you hostage," said Angélique, "But right now you need to just run! Octav...
