Re: Long Abscence Thread.

Hey, welcome back! SOTS somehow ticks on and I like to blow the trumpet on the loads of stuff that has been added over the last few years. Speaking personally it has been a reliable place for keeping up some level of creative output. Thanks! I do have some germ ideas to add to SOTS but I'm going to...

Re: Long Abscence Thread.

Wow, it's been two years since I was last here. Two years! It looks like there is a lot of stuff to catch up on, I am very impressed with the look of Heretic's project and I give Steve my heartfelt congratulations; it's well earned after literally decades of work. I've been involved in lots of real ...

Re: UF Origins: Introduction & Pilot

I am really impressed by the amount of detail in this and I am absolutely hooked by the story of the 'Jhur-Varma family and the two ancient Sith Ladies. That being said, the sheer number of characters and situations here is a bit overwhelming. It's also kind of jarring to go from '3000 year old Sith...

Re: "The Coming Storm" - "Undiscovered Frontier" Season 3 (Multiverse Space Opera Crossover)

^Very good points all around. I also found it interesting that the War master compares them to Nemo since, if memory serves, Jules Verne presents a him as an admirable man , just misguided (and I think one of the main things he is supposedly misguided about is that he opposes imperialism) . Shroom I...

Re: "The Coming Storm" - "Undiscovered Frontier" Season 3 (Multiverse Space Opera Crossover)

Yeah I've been watching :) Zack's arc has been... I'd hesitate to say it was my favourite or the best part, because it`s really bleak and kind of a downer to read him mentally flagellate himself. Let's say the most affecting part :) Early days but honestly Julia does seem a lot more captainy than Ro...

Re: "The Coming Storm" - "Undiscovered Frontier" Season 3 (Multiverse Space Opera Crossover)

I have been reading this avidly from the shadows and must say well done Steve! This in particular is a really compelling episode, for some reason the older I get the more I enjoy seeing people discuss regulations and ethics to decide the fate of the cosmos rather than the standard Hollywood solution...

Excellent finale, action packed as always :) still have to admit I thought the mid season finale was more dramatic but this was awesome for leading us into the third season.

Ok Steve, Steve, Steve.... I think I know who the Darkness are... I am going to pm you the answer just in case I'm right :)

I am, as established, an evil prick, so I am eager to see what Eldritch Horror they found at Halmavar and how the timey winey shenanigans and telling other Eldritches to go back to bed has messed Robert up. :P

:D :D seconded and LOL'd

I loved the bit where Leo actually tried to have an ethical debate with the Cybermen, I'd like to think he would actually do that even if they weren't holding him hostage.

I love these guys, I particularly liked Scandinavia, there was some genuinely evocative and horrifying stuff in that one to get us to the end result of cyborg space vikings.

Re: Sovereigns of the Stars Supreme, revisited

As a very minor suggestion on this idea, could the Cleave be the ones running and the Dirge be the Eldritch chasing them? And maybe the Dirge are so called because they, in their own way, are kind of remembering all the civilisations they destroy, and reproducing bits and pieces of them in their mon...

I have to admit I was not expecting this week's Earth to be the world of Buck Rogers in the 25th century! nice :)

I think yum discs will be popular with this world when they become part of the community of cosmoi. Having flavourful food in a comfortingly familiar disc format.

Very nice episode. I know nothing about Mass Effect besides what I've learnt from these stories but you've given a good window on that universe.

Steve that was both beautifully touching and relentlessly tense and exciting. My enjoyment was only marred by my own shame at obviously having missed the earlier revelation that Lucy was a cylon (I remember it, but at the time I foolishly didn't realise it was her) The Cylons are scary in your versi...

There must be a worry about Solarian pests, freaks, geeks and failures hybridising with existing dangerous things. Imagine if some experimental Solarian Artistes got into their distributed computation centres to uplift or enlighten the Phyrrons, and imagine if it went wrong and you just ended up wit...

I get a rare sense of dread reading this opening, the image of a hospital about to come under fire or be taken captive is especially disturbing. Nice work.

I'm going to pre-emptively say Poor Leo, because I'm sure this is going to be an absolute turd of a day for him.

Re: Sovereigns of the Stars Supreme, revisited

I love this one, opens up the door to a lot of weird potential issues of what identity is in a society like the uss. Like, to what extent is a person's 'core' personality separable from their cloud presence in a society like that? Maybe people will act radically differently once they are de-faced du...

Re: Sovereigns of the Stars Supreme, revisited

I was actually thinking that before the Padrycep resurgence, before the Karlack blight, during the Oolycyst Crimson Age the Wisps would've told the Listeners to slay sun-drinking cosmozoans and Karlacks, in exchange the wisps would give blessings like favorable solar winds for solar-sailers and lik...

I like them, they seem like a fun bunch :P I would give the indestructible pilot energy absorption and redirection powers but make it so she doesn't want to use them and doesn't really even want to fight despite being the team tank. She's a pilot first and foremost and that's what she'd prefer to be...

Re: Sovereigns of the Stars Supreme, revisited

Thanks! Do you imagine there are still cosmozoans and the like hanging around the Qylathic systems, maybe being farmed and cultivated by the Padryceps? (and conveniently eating the wisps, making things difficult for the Listeners) I was wondering if this would allow for a continuous supply, first of...
