Re: Sovereigns of the Stars Supreme, revisited

Question that might have been answered somewhere, but I don't recall the answer to: can sentient computers / AI's / compints also be psions?

Menasha [/size] https://preview.ibb.co/hX72VR/Menasha.png At the heart of San Dorado’s southern sprawl lies the Menasha ghetto district. It stretches from the Blackwall Basin and the river Slate in the east to the Skelton Sink in the west. It’s estimated that nearly a sixth of San Dorado’s populace...

"Jack..? Oh, I can tell you about him. Jackie boy. Good old Jack. It's actually Jackson, like the painter. Did you know that? Sir Jackson Galahad Ridley. After the third time we saved the world they made him a knight. Gotta admit, I was jealous! I had my Medal of Honor, sure, but that ain't ex...

Re: Official Movie Review Thread

Like I said, I haven't seen it yet. But at this stage we're treating it like a 'if the weather is utterly terrible on Saturday and we literally can't think of anything else to do we might go see it' type of movie. I mean, I'm reasonably confident we're pretty much the target demographic here. If we ...

Re: Official Movie Review Thread

I haven't seen Justice League , but everything about it screams 'shortcut' to me. Don't bother introducing the main characters first, don't set up the tesseract mother boxes, don't explore the effects of the death of Superman for any length of time - just skip straight to the part where the big thin...

Re: Random Ideas (Input Requested!)

It took some getting used to ;) . Now I really dig her a lot though, as a sharp juxtaposition to the brawny oorah mandude characters that tend to proliferate in CSW. Not to disparage any of those, but it's also good to have other characters that reflect something beyond just the manly military facets.

"You know, I believe there's two kinds of people in the world. The first, the overwhelming majority of us, are an ordinary lot. We're content with the humdrum of everyday life, quite glad to live out our time free of tumult or turmoil. Oh, when catastrophe strikes we can rise to the occasion, ...

WatchDogs is free on uPlay right now, and I'm glad I never paid money for it. Fifteen minutes and it's already the same old carchase with clunky-ass driving / do fetchquests to unlock the world / cool skills locked behind layers of boring crap / we don't explain the mechanics of our own game bullsh...

Re: Official Movie Review Thread

'The Avengers mopped up some bases off-screen while we weren't watching' to me implies that whatever happened there wasn't worth our time and attention, so it can't have been very difficult, dramatic or imposing a task to dismantle this, you know, vast and ancient superterror network that existed in...

Re: Official Movie Review Thread

I'm not even trying to avoid a Big Fight, just adding enough ingredients to make a Big Fight compelling - the personal stakes, the "weight" behind their glares and snarls, hence Bucky versus Cap in Winter Soldier, Stark versus Stane, maybe even Star Loyd and Space Kurt Russel 100% Death P...

Re: Official Movie Review Thread

I'm not saying that it shouldn't be in Asgard, but the final sequence just came off as pretty generic. I wouldn't know how to avoid that, since it was set up for a standard Fantasy Epic Throw Down. I don't know... but it just came off as whelming and was overshadowed by the goofy bits in Goldblumga...

Re: Official Movie Review Thread

What more creative investment do the final bits of the movie need, in your opinion? I can sort of see what you mean, and even agree to an extent, but then we're not on Skaara Sakaar anymore; we're on Asgard, which is well established to be a certain way. I'm not seeing much opportunity to set Ragnar...

Re: Official Movie Review Thread

I massively enjoyed Ragnarok . I suppose there's something critical to be said about it's relentless pun-fueled pace, even when there was Serious Stuff Afoot, but I loved every glorious moment of it. I just dig that a movie about the freaking Norse god of thunder simultaneously takes the main charac...

Re: Official Movie Review Thread

Yes. Seriously, it's the best movie I've seen in a long time. Best sci-fi movie since Arrival, I'd say. I love everything about the new Blade Runner: the way it takes its time to tell a story, the way the shots linger in a way that makes it feel like a much older movie, the way it respects the first...

Re: Games!

Overwatch is the only FPS I play at the moment, and it's buckets of fun. The current batch of CoD and Battlefield games bore the tears out of me. I heard good things about the last Doom game though, if twitch shooters are your thing, and there's a new Wolfenstein coming so that should be good.

Re: Random Ideas (Input Requested!)

I've debated adding attribution. Might try it, it'd take away a bit of the ambiguity that I personally rather like, but it might also be a case of I think it's obvious when I'm writing from the perspective of an 'established' character, but I might well be the only one :-D
