Interesting Link and Content Thread

Post by Shroom Man 777 »

I mean, I posted devart links and stuff in the Reference Thread and in the Character Concepts thread. But I think those posts were spammy and out-of-topic, so this will be where I'll put my spur-of-the-moment "ooh! that's cool!" stuff!

Terror Dogs!

EDIT: This is a freakish mean thing that looks like a combination of a Necron Warrior and an Anubis-heae monstrosity. Per thinks it woul be quite like what a minion of Diabetes () would look like.

Title editted as an arbitrary exercise of my mod powers. I think a thread like this bears merit; we had something similar on OZ. However, in order to increase content, I would suggest that if you are going to post a link here, you try and at least explain what the content in your link, or whatever it is in your post, has which makes it interesting int he context of Comix!.

That is just... Kangarat Murder Society? I don't even know what to say. What do you propose it's potential for COMIX is, exactly?

Oh, and Shroom, I lulz'd at the videos. I never watched YuYu Hakosho, but it pretty much just looks like DBZ to me. Especially that transformation sequence. But DBZ is still better.

Just for general inspiration purposes.

Huh. Apparently the entire Philippines sank and got replaced by an "Orangutan Surfing Civilization."

I dunno whether to be insulted or to laugh my ass off. Wait, yeah, I'm, lmao-ing.

Fuck, the Tesla Shield DOES have orgone energy!

You know, maybe Technotheocats could use some kind of scheme like this. A bit like Spaceology where they sell Thetan E-meters to their followers, except in this case the Technotheocats sell these crazy things that DO work (somehow, some fucking way).

That would be why, despite being an official religion, the Technotheocats are still secretive. They don't want other jealous Philistines to discover the secrets of their Tesla Shields and Orgone Energies!

They will tell their members to abandon their family if their family does not convert into Technotheocats!

Man and machine...

POWER EXTREME!

One of the awesomest old-school cartoon shows EVER! We should try and figure out how to incorporate these awesome concepts into Comix, particularly the SDI. Since they're also a bit like G.I. Joe!

They could be Moby's ACES. Complete with the capacity to DEEP STRIKE via orbital teleportation, plus modular weapons systems!

Yeah, the SDI could have a base in space - a small one that's unarmed, due to UN treaties limiting each great power to only one Cosmic Battleship (a term coined by the Russians). To get over that, the SDI decides to station the most AWESOME ASSKICKERS its got in that base, and to give them the ability to KICK ASS anywhere in the world! It's almost as good as an orbital weapons platform.

It's an orbital badass platform.

Megafortress at 3:40 and beyond.

1:30

3:25 has a WONDERFUL view of a Megafort with a complete SDI aerial mobilization. During ID4 perhaps?

Slightly grainier but this one has a shitload of AWESOME. Cue Megalith soundtrack.

1:15 LET THIS BE OUR FINAL BATTLE

It is all full of fighter wank and macross missile swarms and aerial obscenities. Be forewarned.

Honestly, I'm not that hot about the proposed look of the Megafortress. To me, the thing doesn't really look like a super-heavy bomber that would be developed in the 80's.

Mmm... point. But it's big and it's flying, and it was really cool and in a Big Battle Scene, so I thought it would be cool.

Would a Megafort be as big as that thing, though?

Anyway, yeah, two giant boomerangs stuck together in an abstract wing-y thing might not be what we'd want for a Megafort...

But I came prepared!

THIS is another contender.

As is THIS.

Actually, the P-1112 Aerial Aircraft Carrier is pretty much how I envisioned the Technotheocracy Wing Basilicas (basically huge UCAV carriers) Monsingineer Flavius LaRoque sent to recapture the Ophanim. Except, maybe, with more ornate religious reliefs on the exterior.

Then we can use Hresvelgr as a template. It looks... butcher, more like an actual-factual bomber and all that.

Man, the design is headache inducing. The idea was that the Megaforts would be assembled mid-air, with three pseudo-aerodynamic fuselage components lifting off under the power of their own thrusters and COMBINING high up in the stratosphere.

Those Wing Basilicas are pretty elegant, the flying wing design of Aigaion suits them well.

I've been meaning to address this for time, but always keep forgetting, as the notion doesn't come up often. As the Technotheocracy is a technological religion, it seems likely that they aren't going to descerate sacred machines with ornate symbology. Machinery in itself is religiously significant.

Hm, good point. I guess it's just my automatic association of the Technotheocracy with the Adeptus Mechanus from 40K talking.

It'd really depend on them. Maybe the oldschool Theocats got all narcissistic and started putting images of Techno-Saints and more venerable theocats on their machines, and some hardcore Theocats found that objectionable and actually blasphemous.

Cue iconoclasm!

"The face of the Saint and the Sub-Nuclear Pontifex must be on the machine, to venerate their holinesses in sanctified dedication!"

"No, you fool! The machine ITSELF venerates the Saint, to desecrate its functionality with graven images is a grievous offense!"

"How dare you! Blasphemer!"

"IDOLATER!"

*revs chainswords*

Hence the schism that divided the Theocracy into three branches. Auto-Cephalic!

It amuses me that Technotheocratic aesthetics may in fact be built on something like Futurism. :)

Technotheocatic obscenities could be like the incomprehensibly terrifying cyclopean constructions of the Necrons from 40k. Black obsidian shapes, sleek and towering. Inscribed with arcane runications their profane and ageless masters...

The Technotheocracy might have its most awesomest and holiest machineries inscribed with incomprehensible textureless mecha-lingus heiroglyptics that, basically, act as owner's manuals for the thing. I mean, if these guys are a cult of scientists and technologies, their equivalent of "writing a thousand prayers" could be "writing a thousand formulae and algorithms and hypotheses" and such, and that would count as further veneration upon the obsidian hulls of their most sanctified Wing Basilicas.

Such language would be incomprehensible to those who aren't Technotheocats.

(Think of it as those warning labels and 'nutritious facts' on various food products that no one reads.)

Yeah, that would be an amusing touch.
