Anthony Saint didn't use his genitals much, anyway. Uniquely, I don't think I ever referred to him as having much of a love life.

Re: (MOAR) Mad Ideas!
I think it's a brilliant idea, and second it wholeheartedly. I'd love to see the Saint-Baccara dynamic evolve if Saint is a chick. It's unfortunate that there's no obvious female equivalent to the name Anthony though (excepting perhaps Antonia, but that sounds daft). Toni might work--amusingly that would bring her name closer to that of Mr. Stark, too .

Re: (MOAR) Mad Ideas!
On the one hand, I would be sad if Anthony Saint loses the y chromosome because I had viewed him not as Tony Stark but as the awesome Nathan Stark of Eureka.
On the other hand, it would be nice to explore how the character dynamics would shift with Saint as a chick. And, yeah, it would be fun to have a female Saint as a platonic friend and rival of sorts to Jurgen. Plus, you know, powerful influential women can be both really awesome (and incredibly hot).
So, it's fine either way.
EDIT: As for the name, perhaps Tawny Saint?

Re: (MOAR) Mad Ideas!
Tawny is way better than Toni. Yes, Tawny would definitely fit.

Yeah, I don't see a real issue with the feminization of Saint. In fact, it would be a refreshing change of pace.

It'd help if the name didn't sound like a pornstar's.
Seriously, the name strikes me as hillbilly-ish! Hey Taaaawnyyyy! How's the kids, gurl? Billy Bob ain't comin' home drunk and beatin' them again, rite?

Tawny does sound a little bit hillbillyish, you have to admit.
Tanya Saint would really sound like a pornstars name.
Anya? Anthea?

Neither Anya nor Anthea sound right to me.
Also, why shouldn't Saint's name sound "hillbilly-ish"? She doesn't have to speak with a Southern twang necessarily, but I think a rural southern heritage might suit her well--Saint is, after all, pretty much the definition of a self-made (wo)man (and then some). Certainly I don't recall reading anything about him that indicates rich parents or a privileged upbringing of any kind.

It's never been estabished what Saint's childhood was like, or where (s)he spent her formative years, or even where (s)he was born (though (s)he was conceived in France, more or less). The closest nationality I ever considered for Saint was somewhere in Africa, for example.

Maybe he can be like Mom from Futurama. A nice, seemingly motherly woman who projects that image to the public for the sake of PR. But when she's in private, she'll cuss you out for being a worthless shit and such and such with quite foul language!

Re: (MOAR) Mad Ideas!
Ultimate Comix has been something I've had in mind for ages. Remember how I told you I wanted to Ultimatise Kamin's characters? Also, given the more compressed timeframe of Ultimate Marvel and everyone being young again, I also point you to my concept of C:TAS, which worked in much the same way. The Ultimate Treatment has always been in my mind, and I would support you wholly in your endeavours.
Of course, this requires defining what the process of Ultimising is. For one, I would note timeframe compression, restoration of characters and concepts to their roots but with an updated take, a somewhat more mature (or even slightly GRIMDARKin some places) edge, interconnectedness between characters and histories at a whole new level (Ultimate Marvel's Super Soldier project is the cause of EVERYTHING) and of course the most important: redesigned costumes.
Also, just before anyone says it, I totally have Kamin's permission to revamp his characters, and potentially even use them as background characters in a new setting I'm developing. I have logs of MSN chats and PMS to prove it!

I actually did think of CTAS, and while i don't really have time to explain, I would consider this 'Ultimate Comix' project to also be a reinterpretation of the Archwind mythos.

Re: (MOAR) Mad Ideas!
Also, what makes ULTIMATE so ULTIMATE? It's not like Comix is low on the grimdark, it's pretty realism bound for a comicbook verse, and really what differences in storyline potential would an ULTIMATE version have over vanilla Comix? Unless the interpretation is really creative, it's not going to be that different anyway. I say we make actual stories for vanilla Comix first amyway (and Orph continue CTAS)

Re: (MOAR) Mad Ideas!
Ultimate isn't necessarily more about grimdark, it's simply more mature, as a simple side-effect of the fact that it's essentially a reboot and condensation of heroes, events and settings that may have first started as far back as the Golden or Silver eras, and has learned from the 90s Iron Age lessons. Basically, Ultimate is interlinking everything much more, interrelating stories and characters and places and making things less complex by removing extraneous parts and the like.
For example, the Crow could probably do with an Ultimate treatment. He sort of received one in the reposted bio, as it became an expanded group of people who know and support him in the Crow guise, and expanded more on the psychodynamic aspects of the Crow/Wayne, but the timeline is still really godawful cluttered. I mean, the guy's been heroing since he was about 20, and he's 50 now. That's 30 years of hero work, for a baseline human. It's a lot, he could definitely almost afford to be rebooted into a Year One/Ultimate style thing if such a universe were to exist. As long as we enacted the completely hard and fast rule of "no crossovers between Ultimate Comix and mainstream Comix whatsoever" there wouldn't be an issue, as it's essentially another take or reimagining.
And yes, I think C:TAS is pretty goddamn close to an Ultimate treatment as it sticks everyone into the same 5 year gap and everything is connected. Also because it hails the complete birth and immortalisation of the ARCHWIND MYTHOS in its own unique way.

Re: (MOAR) Mad Ideas!
But we don't have Silver Gold Adamantium Vibranium Aluminium Ages
I guess we could have Reboot/Year One stuff, but it's going to be damn tiresome to make a whole new 'verse or stuff out of it. If it does pull through, maybe it'd be better suited in story format just like CTAS. Something that plays with the setting in a loose not too strict fashion, to tell an entertaining and understandable and condensed story. Yeah. But I don't see how that necessarily has to be divorced from main Comix or something (since the way I see it, with stories like the Absoludicrous Adventures of Infrared, we already play loosely with our stuff and the rules aren't too stff). Either way, more stories, vanilla/ULTIMATE/CTAS/AAoI would be nice.

Here's a mad idea for the mad ideas thread. Let's stop calling it Ultimate Comix. We're not Marvel.
Instead, I suggest something equally grandiose, but more awesome sounding:
COMIX SUPREME

Re: (MOAR) Mad Ideas!
I've got an idea for an updated and revamped version of the Volunteers. I'm getting rid of the old roster, as it consisted of characters from old OZ that I stubbornly kept using when I shouldn't have. Here are the combat team members (very vague and bare-bones):
Thunderbolt
An electricity-wielding character, who also has the ability to perform limited mind/body control by manipulating nerve signals, as well as the ability to send lightning-blasts at his enemies. The tactical guy and the leader of the team.
Sunstorm
A character with the ability to create and manipulate plasma, using it in energy blasts, but has no other powers so wears a powersuit to protect herself. May or may not be Japanese.
Deluge
Character with the ability to manipulate water. Has to have a supply of water near him to use his powers - but any supply will do.
Boulder
A character with the ability of geokinesis, the manipulation of earth. Can cause earthquakes, telekinetically manipulation of earth, and is thev team's demo guy.
Supporting members (again, bare-bones):
Techno
The team's mechanic specialist. Has an instinctive understanding of how machines work and how to build them, and low-level technopathic powers (i.e hiding people from sensors, hacking into computers by staring at them, etc.).
Hacker
A mage, calls himself a 'reality hacker', is extremely skilled at transportation magic but is also good at combat magic, when he's needed.
As for foes, I've been thinking about African warlords and Mustafa Crimson et. al, but to really build up a rogue's gallery, need to know some more about unstable areas in Comix.

Re: (MOAR) Mad Ideas!
You should characterize them differently then. Because even if they have different sets of powers, if these characters are as sparsely detailed as the last guys, then they'll really be the same/no different with only another bunch of names or another bunch of powers for what are essentially the same people who're named Danny Daniel D. McDaniel, who're tall and athletic, etc.

Re: (MOAR) Mad Ideas!
The thing is, while I call it 'Ultimate Comix!', that's because it's just the closest equivalent. I mean, when it comes down to it, Comix! already is fairly close to the ideal of the Ultimates. There is a great deal of interconnectedness between characters and groups. Think of Soldier's legacy, for example. If anything, I think you could characterise it as a 'sleekening', a word I invented purely for this purpose. I dont' mean just in terms of characters, I mean in terms of 'sources' for those characters. When it comes down to it, the great majority of our characters have wildly different powers which share litle basis or commonality. That's fine, but if I ever do anything more than idly muse on this idea, that would be one of the more fundamental changes. In fact, there would probably only be two or three characters with actual superpowers.
