*Slaps forehead* How could I possibly have forgotten RDA?! He's definitely the better of the two (The Gunny was a joke...sort of. I dare anyone here to see his performance in Full Metal Jacket and tell me that he isn't good enough).

Re: Comix Casting Call
This may sound odd but I could see Stephen Fry as Harold Quartermass (I think anyone who's -like me- an avid fan of the BBC gameshow QI will agree). He is supremely intelligent and well-spoken, and it's damn near impossible to imagine him exploding in anger from anything. So yeah... He might very well be the best pick for the role.
Laurie, meanwhile... I see him more as General McHenry myself.

Am I the only one who thinks that Chris Eccleston would make a pretty spiffy Professor Quatermass? Of course, since he quit Doctor Who to avoid typecasting I don't think he'd accept it. But I can see him in the role.

Re: Comix Casting Call
To be frank, McHenry was my first thought when I looked at Laurie. But then I decided to suggest him for a more well-known character or whatever, since I wasn't overly sure of McHenry's basic traits.

Dolph Lundgren would make an excellent Felix, though...

Could John Cleese be a good Quartermass?

Re: Comix Casting Call
Excellent, since I was really thinking of Stephen Fry in Mad Melchett mode being rather... Britannic.

The other image in my head is that guy who plays Lord Flashheart.

Re: Comix Casting Call
Which is also bullshit. Neither look anything like Britannic. Britannic isn't funny. He's supposed to be so imposing it's fucking scary, a seven-foot tall hugely broad-chested dude who looks like he's roughly hewn out of granite. He's supposed to radiate a palpable aura of arrogant indestructibility, you should know just by looking at him that you could drop bombs on him and it wouldn't faze him. This is a hundred year old dude who's fought in every major war of the 20th century, with a withering glare and a really bad attitude problem. Good luck finding someone to act that part.Shroom Man 777 wrote:The other image in my head is that guy who plays Lord Flashheart.

And Lord Flashheart's actor is rather short. Too bad, I thought he had that arrogant indestructibility thing down to pat. Bullet Tooth Tony could do the whole indestructible thing too, being all Juggernaut, Bitch, but Lord Flashheart is a noble and not a football hooligan or some goon out to ruin the shit out of diamond thieves.
Jason Statham isn't quite right either, Boots...

Does he look like a hundred year old invincible upper class British officer to you? You might as well suggest Sylvester Stallone-- it strikes me as about just as fitting.Booted Vulture wrote:Jason Statham

Re: Comix Casting Call
I'd suggest BRIAN BLESSED, since he's big and being an utterly invincible assbeater of Britain would suit him well. But he's also rather loud and hairy. And fat. He'd do awesome shouting "SCUM!" at people and beating their asses with his fists though!
He might be more suited for Skrymir, but Per's character is nowhere near as loud as BRIAN BLESSED either.
I think Stallone might be a decent Archwind, though. He's got the physical presence, he's about as old, he's got the acting chops. The only problem is his accent, but I think he over emphasizes it in the Rocky and Rambo movies.

Re: Comix Casting Call
You know who I could almost see working as Britannic, if he'd been British and, you know, an actor?
Paul Teutul Sr. He's got the sheer imposing bulk and attitude problem spot on, at least. And Britannic needs a mustache like that. Should give you some idea of what I'm looking for here.

Guys, I'm going with Siege here. It was pretty obvious from the article Britannic is a giant mustachioed briton- Siege finally grabbed the name of the guy I was grasping around for all afternoon ('dammit whose the big guy from American Chopper. Who?!')

Re: Comix Casting Call
Y'know, it'd be awesome seeing Paul Teutul Sr. as Britannic. Although, him trying to affect a British accent would probably end up with the character coming of as funny instead of serious. Of course, I don't think he's ever tried to do a British accent. For all we know, he might actually be capable of a convincing one, though I doubt it.
Anyway, this one's pretty much a no-brainer methinks. Just give her a long red wig and Chiaki Kuriyama would be a perfect Aka the Killer:
And, of course, Kiefer Sutherland as crazy militiaman Mack Hauer:
Tony Todd for Mustafa ‘Scar’ Crimson.
Or, if not him, then Forrest Whitaker
EDIT: And maybe Tyrese Gibson as Maj. Orson D. Nate:
EDIT 2: Making into url because of pic size.

Re: Comix Casting Call
SO that's what Mr. "I'll take pleasure in gutting you, boy" from The Rock is called! I think he'd be more suited than Forrest (who I really was thinking of for Crimson) since Forrest was fat and Crimson's a rather active guy.
They're both scary though.
BILL DUKE - President Billy Lightning
CARL WEATHERS - Vice President Dillon

Only one man can play Jurgen Baccara, and it's Cliff Simon.
I also feel Billy Dee Williams is better suited for the role of President Lightning, though admittedly I haven't heard much about him yet.

Re: Comix Casting Call
Excellent choice! I still say his Vice President is Dillon/Apollo Creed. Maybe Mac can be the Secretary of Defense.
Oh Ba'al. It'd be so awesome if Baccara ends up working with the SDI and meeting RDA Goldstein face to face.

As for Skrymir, what about Mickey Rourke? He's big enough, can set a high enough standard for macho posturing and he's also weird-looking enough.Shroom Man 777 wrote:He might be more suited for Skrymir, but Per's character is nowhere near as loud as BRIAN BLESSED either.

Re: Comix Casting Call
I always considered Billy Dee or Carl Weathers to be the perfect faces for President Lightning. Cliff Simon is utterly perfect as Baccara (though Baccara could not possibly be as snappy a dresser as Ba'al ).

Re: Comix Casting Call
Little wonder: from the very beginning I've always conceived of Jurgen as having the looks & voice of Mr. Simon and an attitude and mannerisms similar to those of Ba'al. He's the perfect actor for the part because the character has been tailored to be just like him...Ford Prefect wrote:Cliff Simon is utterly perfect as Baccara.
Also, my pick for Anthony Saint is Ed Quinn. Alright, so the character he plays (Nathan Stark on Eureka) is written as that other Stark... But for some reason I find him a better fit for the role than Robert Downey Jr. Alright, Downey would also be a perfect fit... But still, a challenger appears!

I have to agree that Williams is infinitely more suited to play Lightning. I mean, BDW is pretty much the living definition of charisma.

Re: Comix Casting Call
I second Ed Quinn as Tony Saint. I love Eureka, and one of my favorite characters in the show was ol' Nathan Stark. He really works as Tony Saint, and would be rather fitting being an expy of Tony Stark and all.
