REWORK
I think it would be excellent if we didn't merely just copy-paste our old articles, but actually reworked them to some extent.
I mean, some of our articles are outdated. Perhaps a few stick out in and are inconsistent with the whole mythos we've made out of Comix.
A few of our old stuff *cough* Kamin *cough* are actually downright incompatible and that stuff was only allowed to go through because we're about as open as the bloody leg-stumps of one of the Goddamn Crow's accursed WHORES!
So, I'm just saying to yea all that as you revive your articles and characters and stuff, try to check them out - give them a second look - and try to see if there's anything amiss or iffy or in need of work.
Old OZC was pretty okay, but there were some things that didn't quite geld in there. Or, at least, I feel that such is the case. Which is why I'm going to take some time, looking up my old articles and perhaps modifying them if I spot something odd-ended or rough or whacked or out-dated.
That is all.

Hear Hear! There are too many things that aren't necessary, and just mess me up bad. We should clean it up. Keep guys like Archwind and stuff, but put out unused heroes or events.

Re: REWORK
Well, I wouldn't be adverse to retconning my stuff, or doing an Author's saving throw, although I definitely think I would have to think it through, so that the attempt to make it better doesn't just end up making it worse.

Re: REWORK
Looking through my older articles, I'll agree fully that we need a stopgap, much like the concept thread, to check for continuity, with the concept thread actually reviewing content. Articles like Nox Noctis, Wayward Son, Mobius, and Project Aces (All I really had that was old beyond extraneous guys like Nova and Maker/Saver/Taker) need serious expansion, mostly to work with what others have tacked on, making them awesome.

Re: REWORK
I'm thinking of tossing away some of my junk characters too. Like The Walker. Sleepwalking vigilante? LAEM.
I am not discarding Toolverine, however.
Kamin: Firestorm and Bloodsucker can be practically unmolested. They're alright. The others... well, might need some re-tool(VERINE!)ing.

SInce I'm using this little reboot to reformat TEG, I guess I can use it to clean up some details that I don't really like anymore in my creations (e.g. some of Supersoldier's more absurd uses of his nanites).

Re: REWORK
Heck, I talked with Shroom for a bit and decided to completely tear down Project Aces and start it over from the ground up, in a canon sense. My stuff will basically be blank slate until I move it over, and most of my stuff I won't toss over. As I postulated with Shroom, Project Aces will remove the crap of the original and restart as a whip-lean kernel of the fledging SDI. It's from this small army unit (Mercenary Metas!) that Von Reagan forms SDI. I mean, the early, early history of SDI isn't much beyond "Reagan applies Runaway Defense Budget to metahumans". Sure, they'd still maintain some of their original task, like tracking down rogue metas, but now they're the Cobra Unit of SDI, a older freak mercenary team for the group.

Re: REWORK
Yeah, I guess I'd better do so as well. Luckily for my, I don't have that many articles. And most I made felixible enough for easy edits.
And I agree with Shroom on leaving Firestorm and Bloodsucker being relatively unmolested. I mean, we do need some quick references for rogues galleries and whatnot.
Oh, and I've been thinking of updating the three rogue sentient fighter jets and merging them into one article. However, Antrozous is Moby's bird, so I have to ask: Moby, is it okay if I put Antrozous in the same article as Ophanim and Shortstop, and maybe play around a little with it?

HALCYON
@ Antrozous:
I think it would be fitting if its backstory didn't involve some corrupt American general.
The F-15KH and the Variable Fighters are Japanese, after all. There could be corrupt Nipponese, instead. Not DISHONORABLE mortal human GAIJIN.
Nokias are reeeeaaal nasty. You gotta respect the Japanese. They know the way, of the samurai!

Re: REWORK
Now that I think of it, this would be the perfect oppportunity for me to rework This is Some Party chapter by chapter, like Invictus is doing with TCoD. Like adding in details from DINO EATER (chronologically before TiSP), improving some stuff, and maybe extending some of the combat scenes and whatnot.

Re: REWORK
Like Invictus and now Malchus, I intend to repost Things Might Get Trippy chapter by chapter, allowing for a general rewrite. When I first started it many of my ideas were only half formed. Conversely, some profiles, such as those for Justin Thorn and for ACID are going to be essentially written after their respective stories. The current profiles work for general reference, though there's stuff that isn't them that only I know.
Some of my profiles are probably fine as is; the Inner Circle Cleaners are very recent, and the Alchemist still works.

Yes, now I can have a chance of having a half a clue on what the hell has been going on. Usually, I just read some stuff and guess which one is irreverent and which one isn't (like which villain destroyed what city or not).

Then this reset is the perfect opportunity for you to catch up, Heretic.
Re: REWORK
I don't think most of my characters really need updating, but the older ones certainly do. Doctor Difference and Hero Labs deserves a lengthly rewrite given all the recent developments, and the Tellurian/Ominous Rex rivalry really needs to be elaborated on. I am also seriously considering deleting the Chrono-Kraken, if it wasn't being referenced in so many other places already.

Re: REWORK
Actually, an idea I had was to have the SDI (and I guess Project Aces as well) spawn from the Omega Troopers that have been mentioned once and a while. The way I figured it, Reagan, who's looking for the ultimate trump card against the Soviets, gathers the best military minds in America to create an army that could utterly destroy the Soviet Union if push came to shove. Since the Soviet Union collapsed, the intented use of the Omega army, along with its original scope, was reduced to the Omega Trooper Corps and various spin-off projects, like Project Aces. They way I figured it, it would be this project that would give birth to the SDI and the other various projects.Mobius 1 wrote:Heck, I talked with Shroom for a bit and decided to completely tear down Project Aces and start it over from the ground up, in a canon sense. Re: REWORK
Compromise:
Aces: Originated as a freak team, metahuman mercenaries, your average MGS-style "special" specialists. With advanced SDI-tech. The men and women of the Aces are really special.
Omega Troopers: Baseline humans who are the cream of the crop of the military, given SDI-tech and trained to be THE ultimate badasses. Like, a combination of Starship Troopers the animated series (in 3D CGI) and Space Marine-style power armor.
The Omega Unit's original purpose was to be an 'omega army'. An army that will fight even AFTER the apocalypse. After nuclear holocaust. After alien invasion. After the sun explodes. After Giant Jesus comes down from the heavens with a flaming sword sticking out of his mouth. These guys are meant to continue on fighting. They ain't gonna stick twigs on their arms and call themselves the wolverines - they're meant to be a professional outfit that blows shit up even when everything has already been blown up.
The way I see it is that US President Ronald von Reagan created the Special Defense Initiative to kick ass and take names. The progenitor of the Aces, perhaps called HALCYON, would be a secret freak team that went around kicking ass, policing the world, and going FUCK YEAH and blowing shit up. Like a covert Team America. And, in good old SDI fashion, they would have souped-up super-vehicles. The Valkyrie would be the SDI staple, having existed since... forever. Back then, we'd also have stuff like super-enhanced F-4 Phantoms and M60 tanks.
Of course, reliance on a team of freak metahuman mercenaries would be foolhardy - so they also simultaneously made the Omega Troopers. So if the Cold War got hot and the Soviets invaded the American Heartland from Cuba and Mexico after nuking SAC and shit, they'd still have a team of 'wolverines' to contend with.
The Omega Troopers are meant to piss on the Reds' radiators. They stick twigs in their hands.
Like the Terran Marines in StarCraft, I think it would be AWESOME if the Omega Armors would have customizations made by the troops wearing them. Like, they'd paint on skulls or pictures of naked women or ironic statements or "FOR MOMMY" or shit like that.
EDIT:
Okay, let's see....
HALYCON could be in the early-mid Cold War. A high-tech freak team, like the Cobra Unit from MGS3.
They get phased off.
The SDI is established in the later Cold War by Ronald von Reagan.
The SDI decides to create a core of human ass-kickers. Using the Soldier Serum program as a basis, and then adding fancy power armor tech and stuff. These are hardcore mofos, the OMEGA Unit, designed to kick ass and take names - special forces on STEROIDS!
The SDI also decides to create the ACES. Which is, like, a FUCK YEAH! Freak Team. These guys are just a handful, but they are AWESOME! And they have good old SDI supervehicles.
Anyway, this is all secret stuff. Until the Independence Day invasion of '97. Then with all the chaos and explosions and madness and akshun, the SDI eventually is made public.
Even though the SDI is now known to the public, the specific going-ons inside the organization is still secretive. Sort of like SHIELD, I guess. But much more ass-kickier.

Re: REWORK
A thing about "Von" Reagan... "Von" is the part of a German noble title that denotes what bit of countryside you're the count, baron or earl (etc.) of - for example "Ferdinand Graf von Waldstein" would mean that the guy is the Count of Waldstein.
So, like, what's the deal with Reagan? Is he the count of some place called Reagan? If so, where's that place, why's he the count of it, and are US citizens (not to mention Presidents) even allowed to carry foreign noble titles?
Don't get me wrong, I rather like the idea of Comix!' Reagan being some bizarre sort of German-American monocle-wearing variant of @ Reagan (who possibly says things like "DONNERWETTER!" or "vat are you zinking about?"), but these questions need answering!

But this states that not all 'vons' have to be Germanically Correct (!). Some folks just add the 'von' to make it sound good.

Re: REWORK
We could conceivably tie this into SkyHaven, with the US' west coast having a bit of a bizarre history where parts of it "go independent", parts of it are owned by Mexicans, the more northern parts were owned by the Russians, and the Austrians somehow managed to buy bits from the Mexicans at some point. This in turn lead to several baronies being created, and Von Reagan could be the heir to one of them. For some reason, even though the US eventually took over, there remained a number of Austro-German baronies in existence in California.Shroom Man 777 wrote:[Maybe California has a Reagan County that existed before Ronald Reagan - maybe in bizzaro OZ World, Reagan's ancestors were Austrian Barons who owned the land back in the day. Re: REWORK
I was looking at Siege's post, them my eyes switched over to his SHIELD avatar. If there were large numbers of Austro-Germanic populations who once held autonomous territories, then it'd be awesome if that actually got incorporated into their flags. I mean, it reminds me a lot of those black-colored eagles in the flags of the German Empire and Austria-Hungary.
Although, maybe instead of going "independent" it was more large groups of Austro-Germanic guys moving into what was then US territories, with stints of being somewhat autonomous? Sort of like Utah and the Mormons, if I recall US history correctly.
