It's cool, take your time. When you have the time, just let me know and we'll work something out.Malchus wrote:Yeah... sorry about that. OH SHI-
Woah, what a twist of fate! Did you even originally plan this out, or was this a sudden stroke of genius? Because, woah. Man. That was a great twist. I mean, man. Talk about meeting your maker... AGAIN. The Falun Frankenstein Fiction continues!
Heretic, you are wonderful with the characterizations of your assholes
BTW, though. Unless China ends up with a massive nuclear deterrent, a paltry few EMP weapons won't be enough to really defeat a nuclear-armed great power. Still, it would be a useful bargaining chip. But that's just that. EMP weapons are not a magic bullet.
Where did the uranium in the EMP nuke come from, by the way? Was it bought from Texas, or from one of those nuclear SAMs the Raj gave you?

An EMP will screw up the Raj's satellites, but all of our bombers as well as our primary lines of communication and the better part of the C4I grid have been EMP-hardened. So basically an EMP attack would utterly screw over our civilian infrastructure -- and then we'd nuke you flat in retaliation.

Basically, unless your first-strike/alpha strike completely defeats the enemy's nuclear capability and wipes him out, his retaliation will still be devastating to you. Especially if he's got a shitload more nukes than you.

Re: O1 World
Nuclear war is sort of like that. Plus, even assuming your EMP takes out ALL of his missiles and bombers (not damned likely, as others have noted) you still have to deal with the subs.
EDIT: It works both ways, of course. Just because you can't take out his second strike doesn't mean he can take out yours. And any sort of exchange would utterly cripple both nations, and should thus be avoided by everyone without a sadist as the head of state.
...guys? You don't have sadists as heads of state, right?

Our guys don't have to be sadists... They just have to be way more confident in their abilities than might be reasonable. Which is hardly a fault no-one in history has ever made before .

Re: O1 World
I have noticed some (in my opinion) problems with this game, ones that I believe need fixing. I shall shortly summarise these problems and their solutions, except in cases where I cannot find one.
First off, the level of realism is fluctuating wildly. Somehow, James Bond supervillains, alien invasions, mutants, Kaiju, superspies and all other manner of other stuff are acceptable, while faster technological advancement and quick recovery from economic problems is not. Some could say that the latter cases are 'damage control', but for the fact that both things are far, far more possible than Kaiju and mutants and what-have-not. Here, I think, it is an attempt to limit my ability to do things, which brings us on to the second problem, the marginalisation of certain players.
As for marginalisation, I see it everywhere. Take for, instance, the end of the Spanish-Athenian war, which was essentially Militum yelling 'I win! I win! I win! Neener neener!'. Had I done such a thing, it would have been swiftly ignored, but somehow Militum's nonsense wasn't even commented on by the others. That, my dear friends, is hypocrisy, and it is thus that I have decided to selectively ignore certain parts of his post (re. his armies magically conquering the entire southwest and razing NYC).
Essentially, every time I try and do something, I have a choice: do nothing, or have it ignored/retconned/failed for some idiotic reason. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is no choice at all. I have no solution for the second problem but respect, tolerance and calm from you. Try and calmly point out my failings and maybe I can delete that particular post or change important details. Aggression, when applied to me, only begets stubbornness, and it is my hope that someday I will become far better, but for now I will try my hardest to quickly spot and edit/remove any problems with my posting.

Just a note.
I absolutely hate the word 'shroom' being used in people's (or anything's) names. Seriously, it's now become seriously annoying, grating and SOD-breaking when you do that, Shroom.
Also, Mary Suetopias have to either get clobbered by the hammer of realism or die, and New Byzantium is no exception.
Also, I didn't throw out the nobles when the communists took power, nor are they militant atheist or totalitarian. Hell, they even have the Romanov family in.
