Norton looked at the streets in horror. The Million Man March was continuing toward his palace. A million people, of every type, demanding re-unification. It was a nightmare.

And worse, it was happening in every city. The Million Man March would not end, would not stop, unless it was ended here. Signs were held aloft, demanding the end of De-Atheniafication, of Truth and Reconciliation, of Norton's attempts to destroy the Athenian identity. He had angered the people, and they were showing their anger.

Why had it come to this? But then, he realised. New Byzantium had no identity - it was a soulless product created by random lines on a map. It meant nothing to the people. Not like Athenia had.

The horrors of New Athenia had destroyed the last of his credibility. He had lied to the people, and the people were striking back. Norton wept for the end of his newborn nation, and realised that soon, New Byzantium would no longer exist.

He could only decide where, when and how.

A violent response was out of the question. It would invite further violence, and that would lead to more and more.

A few days later, he declared a plebiscite, and New Byzantium was voted out of existence.
KAMIN.

Stop doing that. NOW.

New Byzantium is not your country anymore, so you can't just decide to vote itself out of existence just so you can conveniently have Athenia back. That's like me suddenly deciding to write about the Japanese realizng that their New Empire is a sham and arbitrarily deciding to unite with the Philippines to form the Philippine Hegemony or some shit.

That's bloody godmodding, and you know it. You were nearly kicked out of the game several times for doing so. Don't start that unpleasantness again.

This is just fucking pathetic...Come on guys let's write up the nuclear annihilation of his country by his own weapons, or maybe somebody farted and everybody died from gas poisoning. That should take care of the problem permanently.

He makes this game with an opening post that says no superpowers.

While other people build themselves weapons that conform with reality and the laws of physics (like by splitting atoms), and these same people play their nations in somewhat sensible ways that aren't governed by bad choices... he, on the other hand, creates magical beings with superpowers and has had a history of making terrible choices with his nations.

Oh, and with one post, he can totally wipe out your fleets, raze your cities to the ground, or make entire nations disappear overnight. ;)

Frankly, we should make a "new game" that's exactly like this game - except like, I or Siege or even you (Shady) can start the thread and carry on without having any of this ridiculous stuff happen at all.

Or we can stop playing, since it seems like most of us don't have much free time amyway.

Whatever.

He was also actually banned (from several places) for directly copying material from other people for his own stuff. Yet he seems to be repeating his old cycle.

I'm technically still the mod of this game, and I can say as an official moderator action...

Stop your bloody God-Mode antics, Kamin, or I'll be forced to ask Siege to take action.

Damn I feel useless.

Actually, that's not a bad idea, but perhaps we should wait until people have some more free time.

Yugoslavian delegates arrive in Superbia

Superbia has received delegates from the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia this morning, and were reportedly eager to join Tito's planned alliance. Said FDR this afternoon, 'we have a golden opportunity to reconcile ourselves with the international community. This great nation must stand together with others, only then can we truly decide our destiny.'

Negotiations are continuing but are reportedly going to end next week.
What Yugoslavian delegates? I never sent anybody to your fringe world nation.

You do realize you need my approval before role playing any representatives of my nation? Your nation, simply put, does not meet the terms for joining our movement, we do not wish to associate with raving war loving lunatics. This will not stand!

Er, Shroom, shouldn't that be "war is the first resort of the incompetent?"

And, man, I gotta get in gear and write something about the Philippines' response to all the diplomatic action. :? Suffice it to say, we'd gladly join the alliance proposed by Tito and reject any advances by the Empire of the Phoenix.

And Napoleon never had any babies or grandbabies who became Emperor Napoleon in the 1960s either. :P

Ironically, I found this quote attributed by the real-life Franklin D. Roosevelt:

"I have seen war. I have seen war on land and sea. I have seen blood running from the wounded. I have seen the dead in the mud. I have seen cities destroyed. I have seen children starving. I have seen the agony of mothers and wives. I hate war."

Such is the mind of one who hates war indeed.

Phoenix' FDR must be one of those parallel dimension ones with the goatees and everything.

I was quoting Salvador Hardin from Foundation. Hrm, I misquoted, apparently. He actually said "Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent."

I'll fix that.

Which is irreverent when you consider the fact that, alternate history or not, FDR would probably be too old/dead to participate in any meaningful form in the diplomacy of the '60s. Alternate history doesn't work like that, you know. But if Kamin wants to use him, then whatever

Come on, mangs. It's just a names. Why, Emperor Norton's supposed to be even deader in this time as well in real-life. But in O1World, he's as strong as a horse and twice as smart!

Heretic, what the hell? Where IS Jingshi, anyway? Capital of Sovereign China? My wiki-ing for Jingshi results in either a female Chinese pirate or those ridiculous hopping Chinese zombies.

I think it was the older name for Beijing. Maybe I spelled the word wrong.

"Jingshi" is Chinese for "The Capitol". High-flautin' officials might have referred to it as that in the context of strategy or military campaigns, but the actual name was still Beijing and had been for a few centuries.

Say, does anyone know what happened to Tabris? Was he eaten by the Shroomalians and given them their salvation, or is he in a hidden base somewhere? I haven't been able to find out what happened.

He was assaulted by the Shroomalians, then rescued and whisked away at the last minute to an Athenian aircraft carrier, which got nuked by the Raj, and his half-dead, irradiated remains washed up on the Shroomalian coast and were ultimately set upon and devoured.
