Norton looked at the streets in horror. The Million Man March was continuing toward his palace. A million people, of every type, demanding re-unification. It was a nightmare.
And worse, it was happening in every city. The Million Man March would not end, would not stop, unless it was ended here. Signs were held aloft, demanding the end of De-Atheniafication, of Truth and Reconciliation, of Norton's attempts to destroy the Athenian identity. He had angered the people, and they were showing their anger.
Why had it come to this? But then, he realised. New Byzantium had no identity - it was a soulless product created by random lines on a map. It meant nothing to the people. Not like Athenia had.
The horrors of New Athenia had destroyed the last of his credibility. He had lied to the people, and the people were striking back. Norton wept for the end of his newborn nation, and realised that soon, New Byzantium would no longer exist.
He could only decide where, when and how.
A violent response was out of the question. It would invite further violence, and that would lead to more and more.
A few days later, he declared a plebiscite, and New Byzantium was voted out of existence.
Stop doing that. NOW.
New Byzantium is not your country anymore, so you can't just decide to vote itself out of existence just so you can conveniently have Athenia back. That's like me suddenly deciding to write about the Japanese realizng that their New Empire is a sham and arbitrarily deciding to unite with the Philippines to form the Philippine Hegemony or some shit.
That's bloody godmodding, and you know it. You were nearly kicked out of the game several times for doing so. Don't start that unpleasantness again.
