Hardcore Way Revamped

Post by Heretic »

Hardcore Way, an universe that had so much promise, yet some assed up god named Heretic assed it up with crap. Well, older and a tad smarter, Heretic, with the help from other sources, shall do something never done before: Starting a universe without a company. That's right, Redcorps has become bankrupt.

Well, not really, but the focus now is between two warring factions (obviously) and a semi-neutral semi-parasite faction, but with a twist. No Imperium of Man, no Terra Alliance, no United Terran thing-a-majig. This time, it will be the Gloguk. What, You may say, is the Gloguk? Well, let me give you a brief rundown on the whole situation.

Unlike my other HWverse, instead of humans finding aliens, aliens finds humans. The first aliens weren't green men bent on world peace or probing women's anuses, nor were they diabolical bees taking over this single planet for their queen. It was actually a mixture of both, with a side dish of making friends and pawns.

Named the Varakeef, these exoskeleton-covered praying mantis/spider/lizard beings came to Earth in 2012, hoping to stir up a crowd. The Varakeef have learned about the humans long ago, when radio and television transmissions from this planet were intercepted by orbital scouts. After deciphering most of the humans' communications and mindset, they discovered that a crowd of paranoid humans and civilizations pinpointed a big even in 2012, so why not drop by and say hello then?

Well, in December 23, 2012, the Varakeef hovered down in front of the White House in their 3 cylinder-packed-together-into-a-triangle capital ships, almost squishing the White House, its yard, and surrounding areas. Luckily, the Varakeef were smart enough to just hover and beam down some delegates.

After a few meetings and comedic etiquette tragedies, the Varakeef and the Americans made a alliance with no benefits yet. Then, taking off, the Varakeef dispersed delegates around the world to every nation and community. Everything went smoothly, besides some angry fundamentalist mullahs being devoured for trying to kill the Varakeef, and the world was unified, at least in terms of the Earth-Varakeef.

It wasn't until political problems were solved a couple decades after that the Earth was unified. Cures for cancer, HIV/AIDs, STDs, and all other freakish diseases were made. The Varakeef gradually introduced the humans to the Vgar Ki, who became in love with human technology and toys; the Steel Scions of Hell, a spartan warrior race with a liberal scientific law; The Aeiou, little green men who are master space pilots; the Kuffa-Gratree, organic balloons that produces foods and medicine needed for the vast Gloguk, as well as being strategists; and the Ygngha-Lakek, benevolent "Old Ones" who only care about making a library filled with knowledge and artifacts, while delighting in cuisines of all sorts, despite the lack of need to eat. In January 1, 2100, Earth, or Slatri in Varakeef tongue, was admitted into the Gloguk, a covenant of 6 races, with some participating non-members. The Ygngha-Lakek, who are in the center of the universe, remain neutral. Here is a list:

Varakeef
Vgar Ki
Steel Scions of Hell
Aeiou
The Kuffa-gratee
Humans

The list of non members:
ADnet
Hytataras
Virvariand
Sudians
Xopos
01D+45
Pkartrans
Jellics
Sniorians
Warfists
Actrians
Algolkinians

But guess what? There were two other factions up north in the galaxy who are in perpetual warfare. One, the United Tyxan Planets, a sci-fi fantasy empire. The other, the Empire of the Greeg Dominants, is those freaky armor clad inquisitioner with strange looking guns, armored robotic steeds, and steam punk/evil ships, all tied in by an evil emperor with a huge harem and a religion worshiping him. The thing that keeps those two organizations and the Gloguk is the Ygngha-Lakek, space worms who tax ships outrageous prices, and space pirates who somehow fly under those mentioned space worms' sensories.

Of course, with space pirating focusing on a new spice somewhere in the fringes of the galaxies, the little space worms reforming their taxes, and the Ygngha-Lakek being Ygngha-Lakek, confrontation between these two realities, separated only by a political line in the middle, is inevitable.

Welcome to the new Hardcore Way.

I like this a lot, lot, lot more, Heretic, especially all the quirky races you've mentioned. I can't wait to find out what the "01D+45" are all about!

Is Earth still split up into different nations? You mentioned that the Varakeef made treaties with the Americans and all the other major countries, rather than Earth as a whole. Is that still the situation, or has Earth been unified since joining the Gloguk?

Now I really like this more than the original version of HW, Heretic. It'll be nice to see how you'll run with this.

Well, Gandhi got 1/4 of his dream, and Earth is unified, though only to screw up other planets and take their resources. We humans became parasites now.

I like this, it has a bit of a 1950s sci-fi vibe to it. My favourite parts are how humanity is a relative newcomer into the big galactic federation instead of calling the shots like in Star Trek, one of the alien civilizations as unconventional a name as 01D+45 and the use of all the 2012 prophecies. This looks like it's going to be fun. 8-)

Nah, the philosopher Hobbes is named after. He believed that humans were bastards and formed most of his political views around that.
Hobbes is perhaps most famous for his political philosophy. Men in a state of nature, that is a state without civil government, are in a war of all against all in which life is hardly worth living. The way out of this desperate state is to make a social contract and establish the state to keep peace and order. Because of his view of how nasty life is without the state, Hobbes subscribes to a very authoritarian version of the social contract.
Not being terribly much into psychology (I could have taken classes in it in HS but didn't), I have no idea how much contemporary science actually supports his views.

Interesting.

I'm taking a reaaaaaaallll (and I mean, REEAALLL) risk of dumbing down Dhothugkma in order to place him in the list of participants of the Gloguk. Can anyone give me a better idea?

Make up something similar to the "dumbed-down Dhothugkma" for that purpose, but keep Dhothugkma as he is so you could have those two existing independently on each other. That sounds like a good compromise to me. :)

Well, I'm considering another revamp. The problem isn't that the concept sucks, but I have too many strange things that can never fit and needs an complete demolition. Also, I want to seriously add virtually all the other things I had in mind but didn't come to be, being that I was a dinky 14 year old then.

To stop second guessing and making things on the spot, I will give you the upcoming package!

-Gloguk, Tyxan United Planets, and the Greeg Dominants will still be featured, as well as a revival of the Empire, a modification of Dhothugkma, and the deletion of the never mentioned space worms that tax people...actually, I'll keep those, but will add them into a more important role instead of being just a plot element ('Zomg! Worms that keep the galactic border separate by taxing!' isn't a clever thing to do), and I'm adding two new political bodies: The Golden Sickle, a spiritualistic socialist theology with environmentally friendly weapons (nuclear butterfly bombs, anyone?), and the Haum, a silicon-based (but not totally) civilization whose government involves merited individuals with privileges called Independent Action, where said individuals have the right to take action in virtually any way for the survival of the race. There is also a no man space where small empires and states can pop up and add plot fuel, or if I somehow manage a roleplay, a place for people to play king. Might consider the Murgags.

-I am also going to limit background threads to minimum: the info on the organizations, ramblings and misc., notable characters, and chronology. All specifics concerning certain organizations like religion or weapons will go to appropriate organization thread, instead of making a thread of its own. Hope that will clear up the liter.

-I will keep Annava and some other mentioned characters, but I'm going to have to expand and refine them, as well as replot my stories so that I don't fall into pitfalls.

-Finally, the way I'm going to do this edit is totally blank out all existing unnecessary threads, and turn those into the threads I need. A good idea, being that I got millions of junk laying around.
