Well done, shroom.

now you must upstage and backstab everyone above you until you're the boss. That's the scarface way.

I am now a worker drone for both the texting search engine ChaCha AND Amazon's Mechanical Turk! While not as awesome as Shroom's position, I'm making peanuts now, which is better than nothing!

Cool, we are all getting into the Work Force! I am personally doing two jobs, one in a restaurant at the weekends and one for a bank in the week, which means I have little time for anything non work or travel related (each one takes 1 hour + to get to from my house) and for some reason it kind of hurts when I look at a crucifix :?

But its all about the Benjamins (or Darwins, or whoever...)

@Shroom: Well, this is what happens when I spend too much time offline. I'm apparently behind the times. Looks like we just missed each other, man.

I actually resigned sometime around June. Health problems and work stress were getting to me in ways I'm seeing help for.

I'm looking for new work as an online ESL instructor.

What did you apply for?

When? Because I've went there earlier and some days prior to pick up my post-employment documents and stuff.

Probably not me then since I went there at around 2:00 p.m.

Unless I've unwittingly acquired the power of involuntary time shifting.

BTW why did you choose copy editing instead of copy wrieting? Also, why not book cover designing?

Copy editing was more related to what I studied for, although I was tempted to switch to copy writing several times due to the sheer amount of godawful shit I had to edit, and designers needed familiarity with Corel Draw, which I have no experience with.

Copywrieting is fun. Instead of trawling and correcting god awful pieces, we have to take the god awful pieces and try to figure out how to write press releases and synopses to make them sound good, so it's kind of like a puzzle.

So, I decided to vote differently this time around. Rather than being married to the Democratic party and bitching about them being way to far to the right for my tastes, I decided to vote Green. I would've voted Socialist, but I'd rather lend my vote to someone who could at least get more broad recognition rather than utter rejection. Besides, there isn't really THAT much of a difference between the two parties other than the Socialists taking certain policies more far than the Greens. Since I live in California, I know they'll go Democratic regardless of my vote, which neatly avoids any sort of existential angst about voting who I like vs. taking one for the team if it means The Other Guy doesn't win.

Pretty brave, voting for a third party.

I voted for the first time.

That is all.

Time to get back to NaNoWrimo.

Sounds like a lot of fun if FB is any indication. And since I'm on the subject, I'll risk compromising my secret identity to highlight this one little gem courtesy of Booted:
though joel bravo has got to be the best real name ever. we should call him johnny for short though
It is, isn't it? Hell, I should just change my username to that and see how many people think it's just a fake name on account of being too awesome to really exist.

It's great to see the tradition of OZ meets continue.

...who are they? :P

RL meet ups are weird! How does that work, I guess you go by real names in real life? I can't imagine wandering the phillipines or whereever going 'hey shroomz, blahblahblah'

And mang, y'all live on the wrong continents. Cept Dakarne I guess, and Siege. Still there's a channel in the way between us.

Wait, you don't know who the other guy was? I would think that would have come up in the inevitable conversation...

Yeah, a shame about that point. We're all ludicrously scattered around the globe, which makes this somewhat infeasible unless we turn it into a holiday or go with regional meets. And even then, regional meets aren't exactly easy depending on where you live. I can't exactly go from one end of the US to another to chill with Moby, for example.
