I just realised that it's been almost a year since I last did any work on LD outside of my own head.
This despite the fact that I've been toying with a story set in the LD universe for longer that than that.
A large part of this is the result of me not having had a laptop for a while (a computer, yes, but not one I could carry with me, and thus no way to write when I was most inspired).
Another part is the fact that I simply did not get much feedback for my work (though in part I suppose that's because there's not much of it).
Having been sadly unemployed, but fortuitously inspired lately, I will begin writing on LD back in full force again.
I do however have one question: Would people rather see me work primarily on the story I had in mind or the background world-building for the LD universe?
I won't be working on either side exclusively since there's some things that need explaining but would disrupt the narrative while other things wouldn't really be explained unless put in a narrative context.
I'll be writing a bit of both until then.

This is a tough choice, and it's one I've grappled with for some time. While world building can be fun and very useful (no need to infodump when the background info's in its own thread), I would say that a story would be better in your case. We can get a better idea as the nature of LD in a way that a regular article can't quite emulate.

At this point I generally prefer story over background material, but not by a very wide margin and it does help to have background material to base a story in...

Re: Working on Loaded Dice again
I have to say it's a bit harder than I thought. I know the story I want to tell, so to speak, and I know how it goes down.
But I'm still having some difficulty cutting down on the exposition. Most of my drafts for the first chapter I pretty much rejected for being too 'infodumpy'.
But still, I'm getting there.
