Six Degrees of Comix: The Grand Diagram

Post by Invictus »

This is a very unfinished version of what I eventually aim to produce: something that maps out the relationships (not the shipping kind, Shroom) between as many as the Comixverse characters as possible. Future versions would probably be better spaced, maybe even with notes indicating what kind of relationship the connecting lines mean - it depends on what software I can get my hands on. Also, I know quite a few people are still missing, so I'm hoping to hear from you as to where they fit.

I think this is, like, one of the greatest things ever!

Seriously, how do you DO these kinds of things? It's pure dedication and pure awesome!

Mogar needs to be connected to A-wind and Louise Exner needs to be connected to the MABRT and AMY and the Motley Crew. Anthony Saint needs to be connected to Ronald von Reagan. Goddamn, this is a lot of connections!

I salute you! HAIL!

 Jesus...

My God, that is one daunting looking diagram. Massive kudos to you for compiling that, Vic. It's just insane in its complexity.

LOUIS Exner? Also, maybe it's because I haven't gotten around to writing The Ghost of Mr. Lovecraft but she sometimes teams up with the MABRT. Should make that clearer, eventually.

Then there are the Evilbusters having connections to Theo (summoned Skrymir, accidentally gave Evangelist his powers) and the Technotheocracy. (created Ms. Silent, she might be the prototype for Sophie Windsor!) But I haven't written much about them either. Should rectify this. Skrymir might get upset if I don't.

I'm impressed, Vic. Justin Thorn needs a dotted line to Hero Labs, whenever he shows up.

A bigger, less crowded version with some more big names added. The boxes at the bottom represent somewhat unaligned characters - they don't seem to have much of a concrete connection to others.

EDIT: Hmm, that's unexpectedly huge.

It's looking good. Though it's a little wild how Fidel Castro and Daniel Stephenson are only five degrees apart.

A little nitpick, though. The "Guest" should link down from Skyhaven not Team Vigilante, and it should be Nation of Skyhaven since it's its own country. Unless you wanted to put "City of Portharbor, Skyhaven."

Other than that, it looks to be in order. Pretty awesome job organizing the whole she-bang.

It's great. There are a few bits that should be connected, but Louise Exner and the MABRT and Infrared are on the opposite sides of the chart, so it's forgivable because goddamn this whole thing is awesomeng!

I'll just tackle my own characters and their relationships, but some will probably be too unimportant to go on the chart. I'll mention them anyway for completeness. Communist Manifester has a direct relationship with Archwind that is very similar to Felix's, given that they're both the main strategic deterrants of the Soviet Union, and Manifester also has a connection to Karl Marx. You could debate about whether Archwind and Definativeguy have a relationship, since I haven't concretely decided just how personal the antagonism is.

Red Right Hand and Deadlight Hollow (Jonathon Kelly) as well. You could speculate that RRH probably has numerous other conenctions too, but hey.

En Razu is connected to the Nimaru and the Shrykar, being that he studied with them for a few thousand years and then slaughtered most of them. Kind of counts. Also has connections to the Atlanteans if you decide to add them.

Archwind is married to Jessica Peck (nee Cassidy), who is Golden Girl's sister in CTAS canon, and in real canon is actually her aunt, so there's a familial relationship between GG and AA. Which reminds me, in the revamped canon, GG has had relationships with Baylor and Dashguy, given her presence in Africa. I'm considering tying her in to Crimson Mustafa as well, in some sort of protestor spokesperson way. That one isn't certain though, and possibly doesn't qualify as a "relationship".

Pallas is related to Vagrant Arms Development. As a company, they're worth mentioning since they're also related to Syntel (who is related to Omega Frost by causation), Symbiote (though at the moment whether this has been retconned out of existence as a singular character or in standby mode for a revamp is debatable), Wayne Banner, Lillet du Lac (who, along with her Seven Sins, is connected to the Symbiote Suit, though not necessarily the character) and Soldier by way of producing the Vagrant Arms that he became famed for destroying. Soldier is also connected directly to the SDI, having formed their Special Missions Service, or whatever it was called (I forget). The indirect connections to anyone who'se had SOLDIER treatment or other such projects, and the possible relationships to most metas born after 1985 are too numerous to mention though. Thaddeus does have a personal relationship with Sir Uther though, since they fought in WWII together, in the same general squadrons, and at one point opposed each other during a divisive factional incident with the British military.

Mentioning Pallas reminds me, it's possible to mention Wayne banner's connection to the Nimaru too, since he's one of the few who dropped out that they still recall and place any significance to, just due to his savagery, rage, insanity and lack of conscience. And of course, The Crow is connected to Justice and Lionheart, at the very least. Lionheart is connected to Big Fatso by lackey-ship, as is Morbos. Banner is also directly connected to The League of Destiny, since it was his fortune that provided the majority of the starting funds. And he also has a direct working relationship with D-Guy, since they were the co-founders and people who came up with the idea for the League. I think.

I think that's about all for my characters. Just about my only unconnected characters are Fantastic Jack and Casanova. Maybe I should partner them up for the sake of it :P

Also, wouldn't there be some kind of relationship between Sir Uther and the Avenging Aryan, since he was created by attempts to recreate Uther's immortality, and most likely fought him in WWII a few times?

Hot damn, Invictus, this is one hell of a project you've got going here. I don't really see any problems with the way my characters are positioned, although, obviously, some additions will have to be made once I introduce Goldstein's protege and the various individuals connected to them.

Your suggestions (or at least the ones which were convenient to implement) have been taken aboard. Let me show you another update of the grand diagram, NOW WITH COLOR!
Image
The color around the boxes, of course, indicates who created who. The colored lines represent who created the connection between the characters or organization, which is not always the same person as the creator of the entities. My next iteration of the diagram will probably have to be moved onto a yet bigger canvas as I include just what kind of connections our characters have.

Seriously, though, that is an impressive layout. Glad to see you're still refining the whole thing, Vic.

Forgive me for being ignorant of my own creations, but I can't really remember exactly what Theo's connections to Louise are... yeah, they're allegedly arch enemies but I haven't actually written anything yet where they fight each other. :|

The evilbusters should also be connected to the technotheocats through Ms. Silent, because she's a product of their experiments.

That chart must've taken a whole lot of time and effort to compile. I'm much impressed.

My diagram is concerned with linking characters together first and foremost, so sorry.

Hmm, I could have sworn there was something between them.

Mobius is technically in gold, so...

If I was drawing links based on who has fought each other before as well, I would be here all day, alas.

Well, these are "inconvenient" connections I was talking about, with them ending up halfway across the diagram from each other. At this rate, I'm considering splitting the diagram into parts.

This is quite impressive, Invictus, however, I noted that both Goldstein and Austerlitz are missing several connections. In particular, Goldstein should be connected to Reagan, The Avenging Aryan, The Communist Manifester, and Major Britannic on account of Goldstein's Cold War days. Austerlitz would probably also have many of the same connections now that I think about it as well.

I only have like two characters any way so I'm not that fussed. There's a gap next to the problem solvers box, perfect for putting slinger in. It strange having the unit only link to one of its actual members.

Mmm... the Slinger could connect to Cat and Big Fatso. Is Big Fatso there?

Bloodsucker can connect to Firestorm (that was his naem rite). Arachnid could connect to Kim Jong Il.
