The Earthling Humans [Gloguk Participant Race]

Post by Heretic »

A Crash Course in Earthling History

The End
Earth, the birth place of humanity and a world seeded long ago by the Tyxan bioengineers as future livestock, developed spaceflight around the 1950s. They began launching probes out into the edges of the Solar System to convey data, but that data was hampered by the Tyxan biojammers placed on Pluto and the humans for a very long time thought they were alone in a mostly silent galaxy. But despite this the humans quickly developed better spaceships and the beginnings of space colonies in order to begin inhabiting their neighboring planets. A third World War quickly broke out over the rights of the orbiting bodies and while not as bloody as either the First or Second World War, was much more economically damaging. The wounded nations decided that it would be better if they all combined their skills and resources together for the betterment of mankind. Under the name System Defense Coalition the humans began building space stations and colonizing the Moon and Mars. In a few more decades a good chunk of the population were on colonies in all the planets up to Saturn or space stations orbiting them. The next step was to colonize the remaining moons and planetoids, and aside from a few environmental and human issues, it was going splendid...

...Until the first humans landed on the planetoid Pluto, finding their probes and sensors tampered and hijacked by bulbous grey organics with tendrils melded into the electronics. These things were discovered to have a bizarre wave length that would cause radio frequencies to change artificially. Excited by the prospect of having first contact with an alien life form, the explorers foolishly tried to passively move it by taking the ground under the pulsing fleshy things. The things, realizing they were being tampered with and checking its genetic commands, committed suicide and ended their widespread jamming, revealing to the humans that the Milky Way was in fact not empty. It was fucking loud. And to make matters more interesting, the biodevices on Pluto were not only distorting human sensors and probes outward, but also camouflaged human activity from the greater galaxy. The SDC began developing weapons once they realized how populous the galaxy was, but it wasn't enough. The Tyxans, their seeders who closely watched their flocks, sent the nearest Colony to put down the young humans and send them back to a pre-industrial age for further genetic maturation. All attempts by the SDC to open communications were met with demands of a drastic dismantling of human civilization in replace of a Tyxan-controlled biotopia. Realizing what that would entail for their future generations, the SDC staunchly refused and stood their grounds with prototype battleships and refurbished freighters. When the large and vine-like Tyxan JumpRing appeared in front of Pluto, the humans fought bravely, taking three Tyxan ships for every one they lost.

But alas, the improvised military fleet the humans created was not enough to push back an ancient race that have already partook in a thousand campaigns before humanity even learned to make fire. Planet by planet humanity began to fall, the survivors pushed back, the dead and captured used for horrendous experiments that turned against their former species. After a decade of loss after tragic loss humanity was pushed back into the developed planets of Mars and Earth. There, the Battle of the Twilight, in which the remnants of the SDC fought valiantly to hold off the Tyxan Expeditionary Fleet for underground and secret bases to be manned by those with vital skills or were lucky/rich enough to get a spot for them and their families. As the last destroyer fell under the maw of some horrifying space squid, the Tyxans began bombing Earth with a myriad of pollutants, mutagens, and viruses as well as land Abduction Pods to kidnap and harvest many of the poor survivors. But even then the remnants of the military and law enforcement fought back as much as they could in series of guerrilla , even if they were protecting only one refugee. The Tyxans, both content of their victorious plunder and not wanting to potentially jeopardize their winning streak, considered this a good enough warning to humanity about who was in charge and left. Humanity, while free from the threat of Tyxans, were left to fend for themselves in a ruined and hostile planet.

The Dark Centuries
The next two Centuries were known in history as the Dark Centuries, in which the survivors fought a bitter battle of survival, resorting to brute force and drastic measures just to barely get by. The viruses mutated Earth's ecosystems and some of those lifeforms weren't so docile. Very soon wars began to be waged between the various SDC-created dome habitats and bunkers and the unlucky survivors left out in the open. Power shifted from those with a impressive firepower but finite numbers to those with primitive weapons but a more sizable force. Many of the SDC emergency settlements began to fall under feral raiders or infighting. Those hi-tech areas that did survive had to by harsh and ruthless means, almost becoming as horrifying as the gangs and tribes they fought. Skirmishes for leftover technology and scarce resources were common, and having a few more rounds over your neighbor meant life or death in this new era. Peace was an exception, not the norm.

But soon the daily struggle for life and power began to fade away as various power blocs and tribes filled the power vacuums all over the world. Scant farms began growing more food for their settlements and technology was inching towards a stable industrial zone of crude workshops and bolt action rifles. Wars still occurred, but it began having a veneer of society and laws rather than spontaneous brawls of ragtag gangs. New societies, based on both the present situation and a glorified past, began to emerge. Warrior cultures, feudalism, fanaticism, and other such archaic elements began to resurface in various parts of the world as ways to cope with the hostile world they faced.

A second First Contact
A teetering but slowly healing humanity faced their next challenge when the Vgar-Ki, jealous that they didn't get a share from the plunders of a obscure Tyxan colony recently conquered by the Gloguk, decided to explore what was on the other side of the recently captured JumpRing. Upon emerging the reptilian race found lots of dead ships (both metaphorically and in the case of the Tyxans, literally) and began scavenging with reckless abandon. With each planet they passed the Vgar-Ki found better equipment and junk. Bypassing a faraway Mars in favor of a more biodiverse Earth, the Vgar-Ki landed in the idea that there were no inhabitants left, or at least none that would pose a threat. The humans, the memory of monstrous creatures from beyond the stars that destroyed their once wondrous civilization still scarred into their psyche, quickly began fighting for what they considered their materials. With a majority of their fleet destroyed by archaic orbital systems or stranded in Africa, the Vgar-Ki quickly began adapting to humanity and fought back. While wars increased between the humans and these new extraterrestrial trespassers, trade also began flourish as various tribes and kingdoms gave the Vgar-Ki food and materials in return for better technology and knowledge. After a few more decades the lizards became just another part of the Earth during the Dark Century.

The Aeiou, originally too busy conquering and terraforming a Tyxan system to notice much of anything else, finally looked up to realize their Vgar-Ki allies went through the JumpRing before the proper safety procedures were activated. The Aeiou were also curious what type of race would cause a drop in a Tyxan Colony's military strength low enough for a small Gloguk fleet to capture it easily, and they could get little from the few Tyxan prisoners they captured, so the frail aliens went in as well. Batting away pesky Vgar-Ki space colonies that commandeered the former human structures for their own use, the Aeiou scouts found a shattered and dying humanity fighting against and alongside a usually more technologically superior Vgar-Ki. Realizing that this seeded and engineered race was something special, the Aeiou began drawing up plans on how to get the humans into the Gloguk fold. They wanted to also bring Mars under their control but the Steel Scions of Canoipus Mu quickly claimed the humans there. Analyzing the cultures of the race's past and comparing it to their present, the Aeiou began influencing various warlords and groups via weapon caches and knowledge medias that are disguised as ancient human-made equipment just waiting to be found. Vgar-Ki traders suddenly began having better goods like heavy weaponry and miraculous medicine. A few humans wonder why such things are suddenly appearing in greater numbers now and why it is usually followed by sermons against the Tyxans, but even fewer cared.

This deceitful puppet game came to an end when the beginnings of the Western African Coalition launched their first rocket into orbit and found flying saucers in Earth's orbit. Unlike the Tyxans though, the Aeiou revealed themselves and began opening negotiations and trade with various human governments, even going so far as to drop heavy ordnance on those they view were hampering their plans. Soon Aeiou-guided polities with Aeiou-backed gear began merging and forming into nations that are friendly to Aeiou and Gloguk intentions. The only exception was the Earth Defense Coalition in most of Oceania, who was more busy consolidating their power and maintaining independence than have a face off against another alien force.

The Special Administrative Districts
The Aeiou began dividing up Earth into geopolitical lines for easier administrative purposes, deciding that humanity had too much potential to be wasted in putting all their eggs into one basket, or more accurately, in one unifying government. The Aeiou carved Earthlings into Special Administrative Districts (SAD) that gave each District a distinct cultural and societal feel. This allowed each district to shine in their specialized aspect, but also keep most SADs distrustful of each other, preventing the recreation of a human federation that existed before the Dark Centuries. In the Aeiou mind it isn't because they don't want humans to be powerful, quite the contrary, but like in investments one should diversify what they invest. Each SAD can give the Gloguk human manpower that excels at a different job than the others, and most human military units' roles are determined by which SAD they come from.

The North American SAD is a Jack of All Trades when it comes to ground combat and business, South America have specialized anti-Tyxan units who are already veterans at fighting hostile organisms and have access to amazing medicine and chemicals, Europe is known for its heavy industry, the various Russian Republics can field massive armies and secret projects, China is dedicated to being over-the-top and killing Greeg Dominants instead of Tyxans, the Asian SAD is extremely advanced and can easily field robotic Martial Art masters, the diverse African nations has the biggest and best spacefleets on Earth, and the Holy Land SAD is considered a sacred region of Earth and for the most part limited to low-intensity conflicts so that pilgrim casualties are low.

What I liked best was how the Vgar-Ki became just another crazy element on Dark Century planet Earth.

What feels a bit off though is how many different cultures you've packed into Europe. Europe is not that big, dude. You can drive from one end to the other in less than a day. Now granted in this post alien floral mutoidification stage the autobahns may not be in the best of shape but it'd be really peculiar for Southern Europe to be a hub of interstellar trade when Eastern Europe, literally only a few hundred KM the other way, is described as a joke. That's like a few minutes travel for something coming from orbit.

Maybe spread these differences out over a bigger area? Like, Asia has extremely advanced robotics and if the trade hub is around the Mediterranean then maybe Central Asia is still an infesterized Red Zone full of mutated flora and fauna and primitive survivors, but there's MagLevs running through Central Asia on giant arches... Or something.

You have a good point about size. I'll consolidate the Special Administrative Districts a bit more. Maybe Europe becomes an economic powerhouse of Earth with massive factory spires and legions of power armored law enforcement officers, whereas parts of Central/Eastern Europe and Central Asia can be that wacky no man's land where the Aeiou simply collect whatever warlord and his army is nearest and throw them in some battlefield for filler.

And the idea of long Maglevs running across barren and warring lands does seem very awesome! That might be something to think about.

A summary of the North American Special Administrative District

Gloguk Administrative Center: Havana, Cuba
Military Group: North American Special Administrative District Army Group (NASADAG)
Extraterrestrial Holdings?: A few Star-Marshal administered settlements, mining operations in the Zynticat System, and NASADAG HQ/Embarkation bases on HQ1, a moon orbiting Asaor in the Alpha Centauri System.
Flagship: The large, 1.5 km battleship Thumper with its lines of missile arrays and orbital bombards, great for planetside support.

Things to note:
Cloning/Uploading: Due to the reduced population from the Tyxan invasion and the violent Dark Centuries following, cloning and uploading are quite common to increase the human population to galactic-warfare capable levels. While the technology is there, the Aeiou allows each country to choose how to approach this topic in political/social/cultural lines.
Economic Focus: While all countries have diverse economies with many regional resources, the Aeiou take note and groom the element that is most prevalent and could be beneficial for supplying an Earthling army in a Galactic Conquest.
Military Focus: What the nation could provide to the Gloguk if the Aeiou calls for a Galactic Conquest that demands the cooperation of all Earthling SADs. While all nations have a diverse range of MOs, there are certain units and elements that define the country's martial capability, and it is this that the Aeiou tries to focus when helping that country develop its military or militaries.

The Free States of America
Cowboys with cannons face off with Peyote powered shamans over financial sectors of the Wild West. Lumbermen of the Northwest face off against Vgar-Ki timber gangs, new train tracks are being raised for better infrastructure in a chaotic land, Star Marshals track down criminals across the world and beyond, and California is on the verge of a Tech Rush. Horrifying Dark Century experiments still lurk in ghost towns and abandoned mine shafts, guarding lost treasure for the bold and reckless to try and take. Adventure awaits in the Free States of America.
Capital: Denver
Population: ~35 million (mostly Human , Tybrid, and Vgar-Ki, some Warfist settlers in North Dakota)
Currency: The NA Dollar
Language: English, Spanish, Various Native languages and hybrids
Government: "Federal" Presidential Constitutional Republic
Cloning/Uploading Status: Legal and not under government control
Economic Focus: Agriculture, forestry, and animal husbandry, some chemical and mineral mining.
Military Focus: Light Infantry, Peyote powered Shamans, and Star Marshals
Tyxan Hybrid (Tybrid) Status: Viewed with wariness and sometimes confrontations occur, but otherwise can do as they please

Like most of the North American continent, the western states of the USA were hit by the Tyxan fleet that destroyed most of civilization. Horrifying death mists wiped out whole cities and those that survived succumbed to maddening effects that turned the victims against their own friends and family. Even while the people of western USA faced their adversary with their Walmart-bought shotguns and families of Second Amendment supporters, the pulsing and breathing firepower of the Tyxans were too much, and many centers of population either fled, perished to the last man, or were captured for "processing". Heavy casualties on both sides mounted, eye for an eye , tooth for bloody tooth. The Tyxans, realizing that the U.S. was not a leisurely stroll, simply unleashed their half-developed creations and bombarded the surface with mutagens and plagues before packing up and joining their friends in New York and Europe for a wild time. The American West, as it became to be known again, was a sparsely populated land of small towns and terrifying mutated creatures that have taken residence in abandoned and isolated areas. Here the gun ruled supreme and the Native Americans began retaking their native lands. When the industries of Great Lakes area began to breath again and the demand for cattle was heard all across the west, many saddled their horses and retreaded the old Cattle Drive trails with hundreds of bovines, both baseline and mutated.

The Aeiou compared the population and economy of the land west of Minnesota-Iowa-Missouri to its Eastern cousins, and decided to split the former USA into East and West. The Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas, and all the former states westward with the exception of Alaska, Hawaii, and parts of New Mexico and Arizona were formed in the Free States of America. More a confederation than a federal state, it is the State Governors and their regional legislatures that hold power. The President is simply a figurehead and the National Congress, unlike the Federal Congress of their American Federation neighbors, is viewed with contempt and filled with those with politically dead careers. The various Native states also have a legislature, though mostly along the old tribal elder committee lines than the formal bicameral presidential system. Due to the more regional nature of government here, many political parties have formed, resulting in political blocs in the National Congress.

With a mostly agricultural and chemical economy, the FSA is not as rich as their neighbors nor benefit the Gloguk as much. Regiments of Infantry are sent to fight the Gloguk's wars as part of their exchange with the Aeiou, but unlike the American Federation do not consider it an important aspect of life. Cowboys continue to drive cattle to various spaceports and railways, lumberjack guilds in the Northwest struggle to cut down xeno trees almost as tough as iron, settlers fight with Natives and each other over good and safe living land, and archaeologists still disappear in the depths of the San Francisco ruins and chaotic Old Vegas. The average Free American minds his or her own business, and expect others to do the same. Each state has a judicial system and a body of law enforcement, but the nature and spread of the population can make it daunting for justice to be served.

The only thing of federal power in the FSA and the unofficial contribution to the Gloguk by this country are the Star Marshals, men and women of all races who pursue criminals all across Earth and beyond with relentless ferocity and cunning. Trained in remote bases in the snow-bound Cascades and in the scorching deserts of Nevada, those cadets who survive the Star Marshal training and go through a year in the field with a senior Star Marshal will earn their badge, their Bucking Bronco Revolver, and a license of diplomatic immunity that covers all sorts of areas. While the FSA itself is looked down upon, the Star Marshals it trains are feared all across Gloguk space and ports.

Along with tensions between the Nuclear Canadians, train raiders have also become an issue. Many Railway companies have started to resurrect Armored Trains to combat this threat, and patrols of fast moving and gun-toting repiarmen make sure the vast lines of rail are properly maintained and safe from being sabotaged. The brave and stupid from all over come to make their fortunes by excavating old, untapped areas still haunted by the horrors of the Tyxan invasion of Earth. Many do not come back, but those who do return wealthy...and insane. San Francisco and Sacramento, both sites of widescale genetic experimentation by the Tyxans on the poor populace, is still a hot spot in this Tech Rush. Feeling lucky?
The American Federation
The Titans of Industry in Chicago and Neo York watch on from their deco noir towers and floating yachts, the priests of the Religion of Goods protected by air mercenaries and preach their sermons to their flocks by television with promises of looking cool, attracting hot women and men, and being the best if only they bought their goods. Streets are filled with secrets and scandals, all ready for clever Private Eyes to uncover for a price and the line between a representative democratic government and privatization is blurred at best. The Rain and Profit never stops in the American Federation.
Capital: Pittsburgh
Population: ~110 million (Dominantly Human and a good number of Vivariand workers)
Currency: The NA Dollar
Language: English
Government: Federal Presidential Constitutional Republic with special interest lobbies being openly manipulative of the system.
Cloning/Uploading Status: Under the Federal Department of Alternative Technology's watchful eye, and those not rich enough have only limited control on how their clones or shells will turn out.
Economic Focus: Manufacturing, heavy recycling, and material processing.
Military Focus: Aerial Infantry and private armies
Tyxan Hybrid (Tybrid) Status: Considered a danger and quarantined in ghettos. Personal Assistants and "Personal Assistants" employed by the wealthy enjoy more luxury, but still have little rights.

Out of all of North America, the states near the Atlantic Ocean were hit the hardest. Infrastructure was cut and the highways jammed with panicked refugees as the Tyxans began picking off whatever the leftover US military threw at them, including derelict nuclear weapons. New York became a personal hell for many victims as the metropolis slowly turned into a garden paradise for the Tyxans to rest and leisurely experiment on the captured or hunted those who resisted; in an act of ruthless mercy and pragmatism a dozen nukes were detonated, quickly snuffing out thousands of humans and hundreds of Tyxans in a series of radioactive flash. The Tyxans exacted revenge by personally coming down in their biosuits and fought the survivors in the cities and suburbs, from the highest Skyscraper to the basements and sewers underneath. Before the aliens could do any more serious damage to the Eastern US, the Tyxans decided they punished their livestock enough and left with captured humans and organic material.

The survivors began to rebuild under the looming shadows of those former glories, those skycrapers that harshly reminded the scavengers of past glories. Sewers and maintenance floors were filled with tribes of squalid people fighting for the scraps and praying that the decaying structures above them don't collapse from age and disrepair. Floor gangs fought for access of stairs and roofs for alternative attack routes and living spaces, using makeshift bridges and pulley cages to go from level to level, building to building. The highways, once stripped of long traffic lines of dead cars for loot and materials, became the scene of intense vehicular battles between nomadic gangs and tribes. Clever groups with the knowledge and resources bypassed these highways of danger by refurbishing helicopters, small prop planes, and blimps to ferry people and goods between otherwise isolated settlements. Soon air pirates began to appear, and air guards were formed in retaliation, and so on and so forth until the airways, free from the dangers of decaying skyscrapers and confusing roads, began to be filled with life (and death). Jehovah became a literal god in the sky, who blessed the devout with good weather and cheap energy prices. The investors, pilots, and builders of this aerial economy soon became the leaders and elite of this developing society.

The Aeiou, bursting with pride at these Americans' initiative and tenacity, made the most powerful merchant families and aerial warrior societies their choice of rulers and helped them dominate the rest of the Eastern coast and rebuild the former cities into large spires that houses thousands of workers and citizens. Taking Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, and all the former states including Cuba and Puerto Rico, the American Federation competes with the Nuclear Provinces of Canada as the most powerful nation in the North American SAD. Under a more organized federal government than the FSA, the American Federation's republican system puts less emphasis on its states and more on the unifying Federal Congress, Supreme Federal Court, and Federal Presidency. It is in the Federal level, not the regional, where the most attention is placed and with good reason: those who control even one of the branches of government has access to one of the most powerful weapons in the pursuit for power. Corporations openly sponsor politicians, and political blocs are mostly based on economic sectors with political ideologies secondary concerns. Blackmail, espionage, corruption, and even downright murder are normal in the political scene, and local mayors are as deadly as any Mafia enforcer. Private Security Firms are a more polite name for mercenaries, and CEOs flying to work with their guards can lead to dogfights between rivals for one reason or another are a common occurrence. Private Eyes and incineration bins are in wide demand, competing with each other for clues and secrets that could make or break people and corporations, sometimes coming head to head with each other (the Incinerators mostly win, but it's a tough fight).

Industry is the name of the game here in the AF, and each arcology spire has a similar pattern: factories and residential areas for the lower class on the bottom spread, commercial areas for the lower class, warehouses and shipping centers in the slopes, offices and residential/commercial areas for the mostly white collared middle class in the general spire, administrative/government/security district and commercial area for the upper class near the thinning top, and the very tip of a city spire are where the wealthy live in luxury. The really wealthy live in floating palaces, touring between arcologies with absolute comfort and ease. Within these arcologies are smaller cities, all designed similar to 1930 deco noir, and all but the wealthy must suffer from perpetual rain produced by internal air purification machinery; the rich have access to more sunny days than the Middle Class, and the Lower Class has only non-raining smoggy days on holidays. The average citizen are bombarded with advertisements on holographic billboards and television (courtesy of your local politician! Be sure to vote for them!) and the demand to buy, buy, buy are etched into the psyche. Schools teach young kids at an early age to buy the best school supplies and rewards reports praising materialistic consumerism. Proms are decadent events of expensive clothes and dangerous substances; the local police are usually paid to look away by the companies supplying the goods. Even the more shabby bars in the factory areas have their singers sponsored by the company renting that zone out.

The Federal Armed Forces, also known by detractors as the Federal Industrial Military Complex, was and will always be focused on the air. Even the Army has their Jetpack-wielding Special Air Unit and the Navy is decked out with lots of aircraft carriers and flying ships. But it is the Federal Air Force that is the pride of the AF. Equipped with the best and latest aerodynes that Maytheon-Rockhead and General Aerodynes can provide, the FAF provides the Gloguk with the Close Air Support and strategic bombing when orbital bombardment is too much. Comprised of both mercenaries and young blooded patriots, the FAF nonetheless turns a blind eye to most of the dogfights that occur in or between American Federation cities unless it escalates into economic or political damage.

The various magnates and entrepreneur-generals fight with each other in espionage and small dogfights for marketing demographics and political power, while brewing resentment and Tyxan Cults are riling up the working class to revolution down in the dark blanket of factories. More nobler private Investigators and vigilantes exchange whispers of the Dark Ace, a masked figure fighting corrupt politicians and businessmen with his stealthy jet and evading everything the Federal Air Force throws at him.

And there are rumors of the sky in certain parts of cities getting heavier rain than normal.
The Nuclear Provinces of Canada
The wonders of nuclear energy is unlocked by a nation now placed in the forefront of fighting the memories of ages past. Tyxan tampered prehistoric creatures face off against the Radiant Mounties; Vgar Ki nationalists face off with Newfoundlander militias armed with Depleted Uranium bullets over Fission Reactors. Border wars between tactical nuke-equipped border police and bandits from the Free States of America are common occurances, one trigger hair away from turning parts of Idaho and North Dakota into radioactive ashes. The life in the Nuclear Provinces of Canada can be energetic!
Capital: Darlington Nuclear Generating Station (Ontario)
Population: ~20 million (Mostly human but a sizable number of Vgar-Ki settlements are dotted around)
Currency: The NA Dollar
Language: English and French
Government: Federal Parliamentarian Constitutional Monarchy with a Nuclear motif
Cloning/Uploading Status: Cloning is banned except for the Radiated Canadian Mountain Police and Special Forces. Uploading is left to the politics of each province.
Economic Focus: Energy and Energy Accessories
Military Focus: Nuclear Weaponry and Directed Energy Weapons
Tyxan Hybrid (Tybrid) Status: Full Citizenship, though racism still common

Canada shortly before the Tyxan contact expanded their nuclear energy capacity, developing safer and more powerful reactors. Nuclear energy batteries began to surface in the commercial sphere, and the military began testing crew-manned energy weaponry of a more practical use. When the Tyxan hit the Canadians, these prototypes were used to blast the scouts out of the air. When the Military finally succumbed to chaos, the remnants quickly relocated near the nuclear reactors and defended them with their lives, knowing the consequences of a fallout. The Tyxans, bored with isolated hamlets and homicidal moose, obliterated Ottawa and Vancouver before heading home; they considered the remnants puny peashooters not worth dealing with.

Because of the numerous nuclear reactors dotting around the land and what the consequences would be if they crumbled without care, the Canadians had no time to revert back to the stone age and dwell in petty tribalism; the various military units and civilian refugees reestablished contact with each other, and many people sacrificed their lives against Tyxan horrors and hostile humans to escort the surviving scientists to where they were needed. The Mounties began to purge those who didn't cooperate with the idea that keeping radioactive material contained, and soon a form of government merged between most of the former Canadian provinces, dedicated to maintaining the nuclear facilities and even using it to rebuild their infrastructure. Issues arose when a large Vgar-Ki group invaded and wanted the reactors for the use of their new government, and fighting between the Nuclear Provinces and these Vgar-Ki nationalists.

The Aeiou, pleased that the humans here already formed a government, helped by giving better weapons to deal with the Vgar-Ki nationalists and sending technical help that would allow the Nuclear Provinces to improve their reactors and begin the production of energy cells for the global market. Armed with Gloguk-funded POWER WEAPONS, the country has various premiers and lieutenant governors running each province with the Head of State being the Glowing Monarchy and the Head of Government being the Minister of Natural Resources. While greatly beneficial, the maintenance of the nuclear reactors that power this advanced civilization is considered top priority in the Nuclear Canadian government and reactors are usually surrounded by towns of workers and military bases; the local capitals and the nuclear power plants are considered one and the same.

Energy is the focus of the Nuclear Canadians, their cities powered by cheap energy and the global market filled with "Made in Canada" power cells of all sizes. Many centers of population are built around the reactors, and school children learn Fallout safety procedures at an early age. Houses are built to have internal air systems and cleaners in case of a local nuclear catastrophe, and gas mask fetishes is a natural part of Canadian society. While other industries such a timber and fishing exist, almost 70 percent of jobs are related to nuclear power, whether it be the scientists who keep the Units cool or the food service clerks who feed them. With such a global demand for portable and efficient energy, the Nuclear Provinces of Canada are the wealthiest of the North American SAD, and very few countries would dare act confrontational to the NPC or else risk a sudden price increase in power cell shipping.

While the Nuclear Canadian Army has more access to Directed Energy Weapons than all other SADs aside from the Asians, those are usually reserved for Special Forces and certain vehicles; the most a lowly squad would have is a crew-manned weapon similar in function to a anti-vehicular cannon. Depleted Uranium is a common form of munitions for all branches of the military and various militias, and excess are sold to others at marked up prices. Because of the nature of the rounds, a special form of uniform is issued and soldiers are instructed in the special cares of such potent munitions; healthcare in the Nuclear Canadian military is said to be the best in the world as compensation for the long term hazards of radioactive weaponry. Tactical nuclear weapons are available in the Regimental level, and even law enforcement has a few Davy Crockett knock offs in their vaults to deal with Vgar-Ki or American outlaw hordes.

The Radiated Canadian Mountain Police (RCMP) have the same job as they had before of maintaining federal laws across the provinces and protecting various governmental VIPs, but in the Nuclear States of Canada they are given more technological power than before, having access to the powerful Mountain DEW (hurhurhur) line of Directed-Energy weaponry, as well as advancing cloning and instantaneous memory uploading services. Stories of the same Mountie relentlessly chasing criminals across the provinces despite being "killed" multiple times are very common. The Vgar-Ki issue has caused the RCMP to act more and more paramilitary, with nuclear-powered sky forts and energy pulsing armored vehicles.

The Vgar-Ki nationalists have lately been getting bolder, launching attacks at supply convoys and civilian settlements. Refusing to back down and believing the RCMP too spread out to help and the military too incompetent, many have formed militias to wage war with the Vgar-Ki, and rampant racism and xenophobia has become increasingly common. The Mounties have their own set of problems: A cult of Tyxan worshipers resurrected the dinosaurs and unleashed many into the wilderness, causing havoc to the local ecosystem and to villages everywhere. Blasting and wrestling their way through claw and fang, the RCMP are doing their best to eliminate this large reptilian threat. And the small bush wars in the Free States of America at times bleed into the Canadian border, so Law Enforcement, notably the Border Police, has been waging war with a variety of goons, from berserking lumberjack Guilders in the Northwest to sly Cattle Hustlers with fleets of ragtag vehicles to occasionally fighting both heavy-hitting cowboys and powerful shamans. The problems of the Nuclear Provinces are endless.

The Republic of Nunavut
The mostly rich Inuits continue their life in a mostly empty land. The domed city of Iqaluit serves as one of the few urban centers, a window for the rest of the world to see inside this patient land. The Commissioner and his committee of elders face crisis after crisis with thoughtful debate and liberal use of ancient Rotary Cannons left from old Canadian air force bases. Government agents face off against nefarious Tyxan worshiping cults hiding inside the slowly melting glaciers and snow-covered regions. In the Republic of Nunavut, the scariest things come from out the snow.
Capital: Iqaluit
Population: ~6 million (Mostly Inuit human with a sizable Tybrid population)
Currency: The NA Dollar
Language: English and Inuit
Government: A Commission of Elders
Cloning/Uploading Status: Both are legal under regulations set by the Commission of Elders
Economic Focus: Mining
Military Focus: Armored Minigun-equipped Snowmobiles and anti-cult agents
Tyxan Hybrid (Tybrid) Status: Registered under the Interesting Specimen Registry and periodically checked for Cult activity

The Nunavut province, already barely populated, weren't hit as bad as their more southern neighbors. With only one Tyxan retinue terrorizing the populace, many of the citizens simply hid and waited until the aliens got bored and left. While not considered heroic, the Nunavut was intact and rebuilt quicker than the other regions of the world. Quickly declaring independence from a shattered Canada still reeling from the destruction of Ottawa, the Republic of Nunavut began producing the materials needed to maintain their independence. Raiding military bases and isolated outposts, a militia of Snowmobiles and scouts decked out with rotary guns was fashioned to combat crazy gangs worshiping Tyxan mutants. Trade soon began to establish between the Nuclear Provinces of Canada and the remaining Sea-Cities stationed near Greenland.

The Aeiou legitimized the government and helped the trade routes going to perch up the other North American states. These trade routes and the mining operations overseen by the Commissioner and his Commission of Elders have made the Republic rich, and all the citizens enjoy the benefits reaped from the profits. Standard of Living is higher in the Republic of Nunavut than all the North American nations, though this is also thanks to a lower population to administer; snowmobiles and food are provided at the government's expense and healthcare is fully provided for. Each local settlement elects their own local Elder to represent them in the annual Commission Meetings; even those living alone can vote in a nearby region as they so choose.

The Defense Regiment is the small armed forces of the Nunavut Republic. Comprised of Snowmobiles mounted with miniguns, a few gunships and helicopters armed with miniguns, patrol boats with a few miniguns on all ends, and their foot-bound units with exoskeletons that can wield two miniguns, the Defense Regiment is mostly based around the platoon who are stationed in various parts of the empty Nunavut land. While small, these platoons are highly mobile and can unleash saturated lead hell like some Touhou game ten seconds flat. And boy, do the Nunavutans need it. While the Tyxans didn't bother with them too much, Tyxan-worshiping cults consider the empty and usually freezing northern lands to be perfect to hold cult meetings, eldritch potlocks, and gibbering horror workshops for the family! To combat this threat, the Defense Regiment also has a small unit of special investigators called the Amoraks, named after the mythical and vicious grey wolves of Inuit lore. Tasked with keeping an eye on the Tybrid communities, the Amorak units are best known for looking for, tracking, and busting cults and containing any horrors they might have created.

While more stable than most of their North American colleagues, the Republic of Nunavut has their own issues. More and more Tybrids and their sympathizers are fleeing from the American Federation, and a good percentage have some ties to a Tyxan cult. The Amorak anti-cult units have started to work around the clock to keep the threat down, and quite a few of them are beginning to look into the abyss.

Republics of Alaska
Landlords fight each other with Russian mercenaries and Asian weapons over good living space. Free Citizens, reluctant to give away their sovereignty to another government, go to church and social functions with rocket launchers and armored vehicles. Here ambitious politicians murder each other to consolidate their voting base and Eskimo Snow Warriors fight in gun-mounted snowmobiles in order to protect their fragile communities and ecosystem from those that would love to add them to a voting demographic. Here in the Republics of Alaska, life is both precious and cheap.
Capital: Juneau
Population: ~1.5 million (Mostly human with a large Vgar-Ki population)
Currency: The NA Dollar
Language: English and Inuit
Government: A land of many governments and groups competing for the title of Governor, who is considered to be in charge of the most powerful group or party.
Cloning/Uploading Status: Legal in some areas, illegal in others.
Economic Focus: Oil and Gas
Military Focus: mobs of angry partisans and vigilantes
Tyxan Hybrid (Tybrid) Status: Due to the diverse nature of the Alaskan Repbulics, Tybrids usually settle in areas more tolerant of them.

Alaska, like Nunavut, was not as badly hit by the Tyxan invasion as their southern neighbors, but problems still ensued after that. With refugees flooding in and resources being stretched, civil war quickly broke out. Many died in the clashes between neighboring districts, people killing neighbors they had a BBQ with a month ago. Paranoia became rampant, and tyrants and opportunists began to reign supreme. The balance of power shifted many hands over technology and warmer living spaces. A few System Defense Coalition-funded settlements were built, but these soon succumbed to the turmoil of this new Alaskan landscape. In the Dark Centuries many died from the freezing cold or the constant warring. Those that survived began to value their independence and became hermits, occasionally banding together to fight off larger gangs. The Eskimos reverted back to the old ways in order to survive, and gradually scattered townships and refugee camps began declaring themselves as republics, even if the mostly illiterate generations of survivors had little idea of what that actually entailed. The wars continued and even increased with intensity when the Vgar-Ki decided to settle their cold-blooded rumps down in the freezing lands.

The Aeiou made things "better" by reestablishing the position of Governor of Alaska and giving anyone who has that position better weapons and support for their area. To become Governor one must win votes, and that is all. This has led to vicious wars for Slave Voters and alliances of Voters, and the gang-like Republics with their bosses, called Mayors/Presidents/Ministers etc, wage constant war with the hermits, now known as Free Citizens, and the independent, Nunavut-backed Eskimo communities. Election year comes every four years, and everyone wants to be Governor. But even if one achieves Governorhood, they must protect it from "Veto" attacks and "Filibuster" ambushes of both metaphorical and literal meaning. Politicians on the campaign (and war) trail hire many mercenaries to protect them and deal with...undesirable elements; most of these hired guns come from various Russian units that disbanded after their usefulness was done.

Because Alaska is really a smattering of Republics and various other groups, there is little in the way of any real military force. A hundred gangs, militias, and mercenary outfits comprise the killing power of the Alaskans, and law is taken by the individual and community from the barrel of the gun usually. When an Galactic Conquest is issued, the Aeiou rewards those Alaskans who join with "virtual citizens", a nicer way of saying having more votes to put in the ballots. This gives enough incentive for many Alaskan communities to send their boys and girls to die in far off planets, for the good of the politician representing them! Vigilantes sick of trying to clean up Alaska also go and join a Galactic Conquest, acting as Military Police and executioners before settling down as a local law enforcer of a captive or colonial planet.

With the Governor of Alaska assassinated recently and election season coming up, fighting has become intense as Republics rise and fall to expand their voting empire. The Eskimo communities have begun wielding larger and larger weapons thanks to their Inuit Nunavutan brethren to protect themselves against the bloody politics of the land, and the Free Citizens, sick of being captured and forced to vote for their captives, have begun making deals with Tyxan Cults for ways in dealing with politician gangs.
Greenland Sea Cities
Mutated creatures from the deep prey on fishing communities with frequency, and local police are equipped with naval frigates and attack submarines. The melted land forced many into floating Sea Cities, all who fear each other and that which is beneath them. The Island Command is practically in charge of the government, using the fear of the Leviathans to keep themselves in power and their sub fleets well-budgeted. Paranoid that their neighbors are using the Leviathans as an excuse to encroach on their power, the government keeps close eye on foreigners and has only barebone and curt diplomatic ties with their fellow North Americans. Here in the Greenland Sea Cities you are always watched and suicide is punishable by Body Conscription.
Capital: Nuuk
Population: ~400,000 (Mostly human with a small Tybrid ghetto)
Currency: The NA Dollar (though uses the Krone for internal, unofficial transactions)
Language: Greenlandic
Government: A Parliamentary system with a majority of power being in the naval admirals and captains.
Cloning/Uploading Status: Cloning is strictly regulated for use of selected population increase, and Uploading is used for military or Industrial purposes only.
Economic Focus: Aquaculture
Military Focus: Submarines and naval battleships
Tyxan Hybrid (Tybrid) Status: All Tybrids are placed in the Narsaq Quarantine Zone and under Martial Law.

Greenland was a major power in the System Defense Coalition days, using their newly built Sea-Cities to float around and transport scientific and industrial equipment when the Solar System was just starting to be colonized. When the Tyxans attacked, the Sea-Cities evacuated as many mainlanders as they could before submersing underneath the waters, believing themselves safe. The Tyxans, considering the contrary, unleashed sea monsters on the cities and Danish navy stationed there. Cracking many of Sea-Cities' air dome and drowning thousands and trapping hundreds to their deep sea death, it took daring and ruthlessly totalitarian commanders to beat back the monsters and re-consolidate their remaining fleets and Sea-Cities. Even after banding together and salvaging what they could from the melting Greenland island, the Krakens and Tyxan sea behemoths began preying on coastal settlements and naval vessels. A relentless war was waged between a dwindling as well as isolated Greenland and these new fiends of the Sea. The Sea-Cities and the few coastal areas managed to contain the sea monster threat, but only through constant defense and vigilance. Because of the limited resources, all had to do their part in maintaining the aging fleet and floating cities, or risk summary execution.

The Greenlanders were also one of the few to actively attack the Aeiou when they made First Contact. Despite social engineering attempts, the aliens could not manipulate the paranoid fleet admirals and populace into submission, and was forced with a public display of superior technology to get the Sea Cities of Greenland into the negotiating table. In return for better technology and materials to fight the remaining sea monsters, the Greenland Sea-Cities would reluctantly join the North American SAD and contribute what they could to any galactic operations that requires them. Despite this, the Greenlanders have only curt diplomatic relations with the outside world, contributing as little as they can to collect on benefits under the Gloguk. The Parliament is ruled by military veterans and admirals, all focused on protecting their Sea-Cities and coastal settlements from the Leviathan threat. The Greenlanders contribute to NASADAG by limited naval support and naval troop vessel leasing, preferring a very limited scope in alien wars that mean little to the government.

The Greenland Sea-Cities are under constant martial law, always watching out for saboteurs and Tyxan cults who might want to use the Leviathans for their own end. Tourism is restricted to few areas, and outsiders are constantly monitored for signs of malice or collaboration with the Greeg Dominants or Tyxans. Tybrids are cordoned off into special areas for easier monitoring, and special permission is required for travel beyond these areas. That aside, life in the paranoid GSC isn't all too bad, and many can be assured basic needs covered. Fishing is really the only economic contribution Greenland can give to the global market, and many Sea-Cities have special farms for a variety of marine life around and under them. Many citizens, who serve a term in the military as conscripts, usually end up either in the military professionally or go into the profitable aqiaci;tire business, rarely concerning themselves with the outside world and more wary of Leviathan attacks.

To protect themselves against the Leviathans, the Arctic Command has one of the best navies in the world, sporting highly-complex Submersible Battleships and Aerial Air Carriers. Every conscript knows how to operate a patrol boat, and many can become competent crew in much larger ships. Even land forces are placed under the predominantly naval Arctic Command, functioning as marines and security on ships and Sea-Cities. The Sea-Cities themselves are very fortified and decked out with stationary and mobile defense systems, from automated turrets to speedy amphibious vehicles that can move Rapid Response teams to areas of danger. Arctic Command is even developing a battleship that can go into space and land into alien oceans. As mentioned above, all citizens capable are conscripted and for duty every few years for a couple of weeks. This gives Arctic Command a reserve they can call into active duty if the need arises, though conscripts are never sent into anything other than defensive operations on Earth.

With the Greenlanders ramping up their military technology and defense budget, rumors are spreading that the semi-sentient Leviathans in the deep sea are evolving, being more smarter in their attacks on shipping lanes and coordinating raids that theorists believe have a sort of hierarchy. Reports have also came in that state the more humanoid of Leviathans using rudimentary tools, each sighting revealing more advanced tools. But the Arctic Command deny such allegations as preposterous, that these are probably Vgar-Ki raiders, and t anyone making these claims will have a visit by the government agents for a long chat; some visited haven't been seen since.

I love it, this continent is just a 24 hour, 365 day no holds barred deathmatch. It is madness

Madness?

I like the fact the governor's office is in Havana so as to keep away from the general mayhem on the continent.

Rats, I think I mentioned it at one point, but my computer crashed and I forgot to add that part into the economics. Basically, mutations caused a good percentage of trees to become a really durable specimen that almost enters the realm of metals. Cutting and processing them can be a very tough task, but they sell pretty well in the art market, with a line of Kalashnikovs and Mosin Nagants also being made whose handles and stocks is made from this material for extra indestructibility. Because of the price, many groups have competed for areas that are filled with these hardy mutant trees and fight over them at times. This is where the Vgar-Ki come in, stealing metal-wood cutting equipment or shipments of these materials to sell to black market dealers.

Oh, interesting. To be honest I'm vaguely bummed it doesn't entail lizard aliens in plaid lumberjacking shirts... But carbotanium trees are pretty cool too!

In regards to Participating Races, is there a point where the Gloguk allows them to join as full members after long enough guidance?

Also what nation/bloc has the highest standard of living?

The Gloguk does state that any Participant Race can become a full fledged member after serving long enough and being able to handle galactic threats by themselves with little help...on paper. In reality the Participant Races stay where they are, social engineered by their patron Member Race to be mostly content with their lot.

As for highest standards of living, I would say Australia but they are different in ways I haven't revealed yet, so I would go with Asia generally. Bizarre computer overlords, alternate virtual realities, and a third three-way Chinese Civil War aside, they have the most technology and power planetside and the average citizen has access to the most services and technology.

You mentioned California is in a Tech Rush. What kind of Tech Rush is it and how is Los Angeles doing here? Is Hollywood still a moneymaker and is Scientology still around?

Ooh and since cloning is allowed, are we seeing clones of famous movie stars dead centuries ago? Like you Sylvester Stallone or Armor Scwarzennager clones starring in cheesy action flicks like Terminator 40: Rise of the Organisms? :D

When I mean Tech Rush, I meant a literal "get your equipment and mine some technology from ruined buildings as if it was a gold rush." California hasn't been rebuilt from the Tyxan invasion of Earth, so it's wild land with secret goodies hiding within the wilderness that was once Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, etc.

While the Earthlings now are more advanced than the System Defense Coalition, there are many electronic artifacts, patents, and lost shows/games/videos to be found and integrated back to current Earthling culture...and there are people who pay big bucks for that stuff.

Y'know, you would think I would have thought of that because of my inclination to general craziness, but I didn't think of that. But the problem is cloning is a really recent thing, and I'm not sure the gravesites have been left intact or even remembered where they were buried after all the craziness that happened a few hundred years.

The discovery of those grave sites might be another reason to scour the remnants of Silicon Valley and find the golden "Wikipedia" server.

With Canada there's mention of Gloguk POWER weapons. What are these weapons?
HIGH POWERED PLASMA DEATH WEAPONS THAT CAN FIT A CHILD'S HAND.
Thinking about the Free States of America, part of me is imagining metal & composite hover stagecoaches being drawn by robot horses. Or perhaps some sort of genetically engineered Gloguk bug-horse hybrid. And then said stagecoaches are raided by bandits with like gravitic accelerator pistols or some other Gloguk weapon & the stagecoach driver & coach messenger (perhaps in some sort of shielded operator compartment) just blows them away with a coach gun that is more like a mini grenade launcher that has multiple ammo types than a shotgun. As for why stagecoaches, well in addition to fitting the Western theme, maybe there are some issues with long-distance communication infrastructure in the FSA so some stuff has to be carried overland? Or maybe roads aren't the best so some goods have to be carried over rugged terrain? Maybe it's silly.
Since the FSA is the second most primitive place compared to the rest of the world aside from maybe the Eurasian DMZ Administrative District, they don't have that much of an infrastructure to maintain higher technologies, they would have to rely on things that can be repaired by the user themselves with few tools or be extremely robust. So ultralight metal and composite stagecoaches would work, but not sure about robo horses and hover coaches (though hovercraft trails down the Colorado River and Columbia would make sense). As for the rest, yeah weapons of all sorts can be used since DEW weapons, especially after humans joined the Gloguk, aren't as fragile or as energy consuming as they are now and are less so than super-advanced vehicles.

As for communications, yeah I can totally see stuff like that happening, since the postal service is basically underfunded to the point that they can't afford UPS trucks. Stagecoaches also have better carrying capacity than most cars and grass to feed horses and other beasts of burden is dirt cheap unless you are in the Southeast part of America, in which case solar cars and stuff are your friend. And as you said, the roads aren't as good since they have stopped being maintained after the Tyxan Invasion of Earth and the FSA government is less inclined to spend scant tax money on something that can be done by stagecoach. Not to say that there aren't roads between the more developed cities and towns, but they are more local like our bus or local train systems.
How is organized crime here tolerated on Earth? Because with cities like Chicago & New York, I'm wondering if the weirdness of the current-era mixed in with Godfather-esque style crime families and loyalties and aesthetics could fit well together. :D
Oh yeah, Kung Fu triads and old school mafia are still around and thriving in the cities, especially in space ports and industrial centers. But now they have to compete with super designer drug-manufacturing Tyxan Cults, Casino-running Native Americans who now protect their reservations with light tanks and attack helicopters, and insane Plaid-shirted Lumberjack Guilds in Washington and Oregon State.
As for Detroit, tell me is there some sort of expy of Omnicorp running around with some sort of RoboCop pastiche (1987 or 2014, or some sort of mishmashed version) patrolling it? Does Detroit still suffer from having all its manufacturing jobs being replaced by automation here?
Since Detroit is part of the industrial and mogul-ruled American Federation, of course there would be some big hyper corporation controlling the city. I haven't though of Robocop pastiche, but I can totally have air drones and cybernetic pilot aces that came straight out of those old pulp magazines. As for its economy, Detroit got a restart after it was rebuilt, becoming a major seaplane and subplane manufacture base.
And what about borrowing from Judge Dredd? Any megacities with judges on motorcycles running around here in both the West Coast & East Coast of North America?
That's more in Europe. The West Coast is filled with sheriffs and marshals wielding portable hand cannons probably spending most of their day chasing that arch nemesis or just passed out on the saloon floor, while the East Coast has all sorts of lone and gritty detectives sometimes working with, sometimes fighting against the corporate Private Security Firms that usually turn a blind eye to their employer's deeds.
And finally what are Tybrids? Yeah I know they're Tyxan-Human hybrids but how were they formed? Did the evil Tyxans seduce our Earth women? Or did they come for our men here, bewitching them with their sci-fi alien babe looks? :D They seem to suffer from discrimination in some areas.
Tybrids are formed from the mutations and artificial creation from the Tyxans during the Invasion of Earth. They would sometimes capture humans and give them Tyxan attributes before throwing them back into a hostile populace, mutate the sperm or the eggs so that the victims' descendants would gain Tyxan appearances and attributes, or create the fetus themselves and then fuse it into a female's womb. Tyxans can't procreate with humans or many other races for that matter, but they have used them for experimentation purposes. And Tybrids are a result of that.

Tybrids had a really short lifespan during the Dark Centuries, since they were the byproduct and reminder of humanity's defeat. Many are killed outright when born and in some societies their mothers burned as witches, but regardless Tybrids continued to exist due to the Tyxan genetics at times becoming regressive until later. When the Gloguk came down and brought Earth back to some sort of civilized standards, it became illegal to outright exterminate Tybrids (since that takes away resources that could be used in exterminating Tyxans, a more galactic threat), but other than that the Aeiou leave it to the individual countries to decide how they deal with that issue. The American Federation view Tyxans as little more than second class citizens who may serve as secretaries or courtesans (or both) at best, while the Nuclear Canadians allow full citizenship but racism is still common. The Tripartite Union in South America deport whatever Tyxan they find into the rainforests of the Brazilian Defense Initiative (BDI) who pity green card them and then recruit the Tybrids in the eternal war against Gaia, and the Polish Galactic Imperium has many Tybrids in the Szlachta Court.

Whereas Tyxans look really elf-like (slanted black eyes, very hollow cheeks, super tall, etc. etc.), Tybrids look similar to common portrayals of Fae and stuff. They serve as the persecuted group of the Earthlings, made worse by the fact many feel that to feel belonged they have to join Tyxan Cults and reluctance to join the armies of their oppressors.

No problem.

Man the Tybrids really have a raw deal. Has it ever occurred to any of the groups persecuting them that they're creating self-fulfilling prophecies in regards to the Tybrids and their joining of Tyxan cults? I mean Christ, they're another source of labor or ideas or whatever that could be used to fight back against the Tyxans or reclaim Earth and beyond yet instead those groups and countries treating them like shit are just helping the Tyxans! Fuck I'd almost call the people advocating racism against Tybrids to be traitors who are aiding the enemy!

And it's not like Tybrids are like Drow who have grown up in a culture that encourages them to act evil toward others here right?

How does the FSA generally treat Tybrids? I read that there's some wariness but in general are Tybrids doing okay there?

As for what you said about the Tyxans not being able to reproduce with many other races, have their been *ahem* amateur attempts to do so? Are their parts  even compatible with humans?

Hm with the FSA, what about trains? Is there anything primitive enough the FSA could easily repair or maintain but not be so primitive that it's a steam train? Because part of me is wondering if they could somehow have something like streamliner trains. Sorta a mix of Wild West & 1920s aesthetics for general life & tech in the FSA.

Still are computers sorta common in the FSA? Like is the Internet there, or whatever equivalent is used on Earth here, still able to be found in most households in the FSA?

This is Hardcore Regenesis Earthlings we talking here. They aren't the brightest of creatures.

The FSA is a generally libertarian place, so they believe that as long as the Tybrids don't bother them, they don't bother Tybrids. Skirmishes and lynchings do happen, but the Tybrids can legally fight back and do so, creating a sort of tenuous truce between the various communities.
As for what you said about the Tyxans not being able to reproduce with many other races, have their been *ahem* amateur attempts to do so? Are their parts  even compatible with humans?
*Cough* Next question

Yeah, modern trains are completely plausible and cost friendly compared to trucks. We can totally have all sorts locomotives dotted around the great Western United States.
Still are computers sorta common in the FSA? Like is the Internet there, or whatever equivalent is used on Earth here, still able to be found in most households in the FSA?
Computers is common, similar to how despite not having much of a Silicon Valley Africa and parts of the Middle East have access to cell phones. It's mostly Linux based at this point, and laptops/tablets are the most common though there is a large Desktop enthusiast scene all over the world including the FSA.

WHY DID THIS TAKE LONGER THAN USUAL? WHY DID MY COMPUTER HAVE TO CRASH BEFORE SAVING?

A summary on the South American Special Administrative District

Gloguk Administrative Center: Quito, Ecuador
Military Group: Latin American War Operations Command (LAWOC)
Extraterrestrial Holdings?: Mining operations in Saturn, HQ/Embarkation bases on Teleros, and ongoing colonization on Trayton in Alpha Centauri.
Flagship: The supercarrier Monstrum (everyone decided to go with old Latin since no one could agree on a language to name it after) specializes in sending out dozen of squadrons consisting of small but hard hitting gunships to spearhead the initial assault in JumpRing operations.

Things to note:
Cloning/Uploading: Due to the reduced population from the Tyxan invasion and the violent Dark Centuries following, cloning and uploading are quite common to increase the human population to galactic-warfare worth levels. While the technology is there, the Aeiou allows each country to choose how to approach this topic in political/social/cultural lines.
Economic Focus: While all countries have diverse economies with many regional resources, the Aeiou take note and groom the element that is most prevalent and could be beneficial for supplying an Earthling army in a galactic rampage.
Military Focus: What the nation could provide to the Gloguk if the Aeiou calls for a Galactic Conquest that demands the cooperation of all Earthling SADs in large quantities.

MesoAmerican League
Super arcology pyramids house whole populations from the mutant rainforests and feral tribes under the watchful of the Huey Tlatcanis, or Great Speakers in the revived formal Nahuatl language. Under each of these pyramid cities called a altepetl the mostly Catholic Latin American peoples live, and automated defense systems protect them from internal and external threats. Football matches are a central part of the League's culture and economy, but gang wars and feuds between clubs have become a major issue for the High Council; street football matches can turn real ugly, real fast. SpecOps and Sea Patrols face off against sugar smugglers in the Sea of Mexico and the Pacific who sale the sweet spice to addicted Varakeef and Pktarans banned from the substance. Rumors of a top secret war game funded by the government have circulated the net, a potentially fatal deathmatch that pits the various altepetl's SpecOps units against each other. This game, while denied by the MesoAmerican League, has been dubbed the the conspiracy theorists as the Flower Wars.
Capital: San Salvador
Population: ~30 million (mostly Human , Tybrid, and Vgar-Ki)
Currency: The Peso
Language: Nahuatl, Spanish, various Native languages
Government: A council of city mayors based on republican tendencies mixed with Aztec and Mayan government structure
Cloning/Uploading Status: Up to the various altepetls, some have it legal while others have it under strict and specific regulations.
Economic Focus: Agriculture, forestry, offshore oil, and manufacturing.
Military Focus: Small naval units, Special Forces, and football mobs.
Tyxan Hybrid (Tybrid) Status: Legally recognized, but face discrimination in certain areas.

The various Central American countries such as Mexico were a major player in the System Defense Coalition, providing much of the security of the colonization efforts in the Solar System. Many heroes born and killed in the short war between the SDC and the Tyxans were from the South American continent, and these men and women fought bravely with improvised warships and prototype equipment against a superior foe. Sadly the SDC forces were routed in the fateful Battle on the Moon and soon the humans became the playthings for the Tyxans. Because of their role in the SDC, South America was the hardest hit. Thousands of people were lined up and sacrificed to living factories that recycle matter to the most basic of components, and thousand others were forced to play ball games with the losing team horribly butchered and turned into zombies that feasted on the winning team. The survivors quickly fled away from the urban areas and into the deep jungle or into ancient ruins that did not interest the Tyxans.

After the invaders left, their bioships full of human resources, the Central Americans quickly flocked to old temples and cathedrals and slowly rebuilt. Wars over scarce technology became common, and those communities that had it began to use old energy shielding technology to protect their power and resources, as well as keep the terrifying new rain forest that is reclaiming its lost land away. Those that could not afford shielding began to suffer from carnivorous plants and vicious animal life and quickly perished. Usually centered around old MesoAmerican ruins, the surviving settlements began to once again trade and become cities. Because many traders were Nahuatl speakers who knew how to survive off the land and deal with natives, that language that unified these cities was Nahuatl. As the ecosystem began to worsen, the various Central American shielded cities knew that they couldn't just isolate themselves and hope the issue would go away. Banding together, the cities began to pool resources and manpower to find a way at stopping the rainforest and the more militant mutated tribes who live in them.

When the Aeiou arrived, they were pleased that the Central Americans shaped up by themselves and aside from technological trade and building the once destroyed city of San Salvador as the capital of the MesoAmerican League, left them alone. Each city is run by the Huey Tlatcanis, mayors who are elected by city elders. Tasked with the existence of their altepeti and the funding of the local soccer armies that wage war with other cities during Cups, the government is similar of the ancient Aztec way, where the Huy Tlatcanis have almost absolute power but are watched by the Executive City Council. Every four years the various Altepetis send their leaders to San Salvador and elect an "emperor", who decides the overarching guidelines of the League and oversees the soccer games.

Like many of their Latin American neighbors, the MesoAmerican League deals specifically pharmaceutical plants. Domed Greenhouses help produce exports and feed the populace, and adventurers go out to acquire those plants that are too difficult to artificially grow. Bolt action and semiautomatic rifles are still widely used in the Central Eurasian SAD, so wood from the mutant rainforest also is an important yet dangerous to harvest resource in the MesoAmerican economy; complaints from Balkan soldiers of their rifles simply up and walking away are common enough that the companies that sell the wood have a refund policy. While the rainforest is not as dangerous as in Brazil, it is enough that workers are usually armed or protected by military personnel. Petrochemicals used in synthetic materials is also important for Earthlings, and the Gulf of Mexico has many offshore rigs that have been targeted by pirates and smugglers.

The MesoAmerican Armed Forces (MAAF) are a small, but highly trained and highly equipped organization with cybernetic implants from Asia and weapons built right at home that suit their soldiers' job. Usually dealing with hyperaggressive super fauna, angry tribes with powerful fire-shooting spears, and pirates and smugglers of all sort, the MAAF never rests and always aspires to be better. Having the second best Special Forces right behind the British Isles with operatives all over Earth fighting against sugar smugglers who are providing it to various aliens addicted to it like the Vivariands and the Shoggoths. The Cuerpo de Fuerzas Especiales de Centroamericano (CFEC) is comprised of many various Special Force and Commando units from all over Central America. To stay at top combat readiness, war games are frequently held in secret arenas and simulated battlefields all over Central America. Despite their best efforts, casualties do occur in these war games.

A controversial legal ruling from the Gloguk has allowed the arming of fanatical football mobs as a legitimate source of military might in Galactic Conquests for the MesoAmerican Armed Forces in an attempt to bring football and Catholicism to the galaxy. Rumors circulating the World Wide Web have also mentioned that the casualties within the CECF wargames, dubbed the Flower Games, are a deliberate part of the simulations and that the winners of these Flower Games get extra funding for their units. The government has denied such allegations as conspiracy theories. Sugar Smugglers, who sell their South American goods to sugar-addicted aliens like Vivariands and Pa-F-Al-R-Rs in North American border towns, are waging full scale wars against the MAAF and CEFC; the question is, who is funding these criminals with rocket launchers and naval warships, and why?

People's Confederation of the Andes
Terraces filled with fortifications and super forts line the Andes Mountains as the Comrades of the Confederation are eternally alert against Tyxan cultists and Vgar Ki raiders. The ancient material warehoues they raid have made their neighbors and foreign interests eyeing this communist workers' state, and in turn have caused the Syndicate Congress to be paranoid of many. Commissars maintain morale and watch for Tripartite spies with whip and pleasure gas. Reluctantly engineered to provide the capitalistic pigs with raw materials, the Soldiers' Syndicate have begun sending agents to spread the Workers' Revolution to all corners of the galaxy, with communist literature in one hand and hand cannon in the other. The work of the Proletariat never ends in the People's Confederation of the Andes.
Capital: Nova Santiago
Population: ~25 million (mostly Humans with a sizable Tybrid and Shoggoth communist sympathizer population)
Currency: The Peso
Language: Spanish, Various Native languages and hybrids
Government: A cluster of syndicates, communes, and unions that meet and debate in the Workers' Congress; headed by a Chairperson to keep discussion and action going.
Cloning/Uploading Status: legal and under the Cloning Community's jurisdiction.
Economic Focus: Mining, agriculture, free internet services, and communism
Military Focus: Static defenses, super forts, artillery, communist agents
Tyxan Hybrid (Tybrid) Status: Guaranteed equal protection and discrimination is shunned by a large portion of the worker groups.

The various Andean countries like Peru, Chile, Colombia, and Argentina during the System Defense Coalition era was the site for many military bases and outposts. While many of its neighbors reached for the stars, the nations across the Andes focused on fortifications as they became more xenophobic and fearful of potential subversion. When the Tyxans came, that paranoia paid off as they hid their populace under as their cannons and rail systems held off against the Tyxans and former human mutants as long as possible. While it was futile and the Tyxans dragged out the helpless defenders for their experiments, a good chunk of the mountainous population managed to survive the onslaught. But the true horrors were yet to come until after the Tyxans left with their writhing and screaming prizes.

Gaia, that intelligence which commands the new Amazon Rainforest and all the creatures within, birthed to see itself being carved up by the humans and screamed its birth cry in anger. Those that survived the Tyxans' initial onslaught were found facing giant flying spiders and semi-sentient ape stalkers; unlike the burgeoning BDI, or Brazilian Defense Initiative, the Peruvians and the other Andean nations had little idea of what was about to happen and suffered heavily from the waves of semi-sentient fauna that battered their defenses before Gaia settled down and focused on Brazil itself. The surviving Andean fortifications began to war with each other for technology and supplies in the rugged mountains. As the decades went on, people began to get sick of the ruling classes playing with their lives and with the help of communists began revolting. Soon all the forts and tunnel networks began to fall under the new People's Confederation of the Andes, and as their power grew the communes began looking at their neighbors in hopes to export communism.

Their dreams of a global revolution fell apart when the Aeiou came down and engineered who would rule their respective lands, and unfortunately for the People's Confederation many of these new nations were definitely not communist. All attempts of overt global workers' revolutions were halted by the Aeiou, who threatened to give the Andes to McDonalds. Not only that, the People's Confederation was forced to supply their capitalist and fascist pig neighbors with materials for their colonial and anti-environmental wars with materials. The PCA have secretly allied themselves with various communistic and socialistic alien factions like the Varakeef TysvklKeefa, House Corduntha of the Algolkinians, and the No-Overseer faction of the Warfists in order to spread the Universal Workers' Revolution. Until that glorious day, the PCA is willing to hand over its precious materials to its neighbors with clenched teeth.

The various communes and unions dictate how they produce and who to sell within the guidelines set by the Aeiou, and each group sends a representative to the Worker's Congress in the capital of Nova Santiago, where matters of large economic and political importance are decided democratically. The PCA supplies both the MesoAmerican League and the BDI with foodstuff and mostly recycled minerals. Due to existing network infrastructures that relied on towers rather than satellites, the PCA maintained a sort of internet and internet culture which became the basis for the new Earthling World Wide Web. PCA's internet services are free and fast, but at the cost of subtle leanings to Communism via ads and top search engine results. Military hardware such as modular carbonite walls, automated turret systems, artillery, and other defensive heavy armament is also manufactured and reluctantly sold to many of the world's Fascist and Imperialist nations at decent prices.

While the People's Confederation of the Andes fended off Gaia and are safe within their own terraces of fortifications and long miles of wall, the threat of counter-revolutionary agents and anti-communist forces still persists, requiring the need for the Popular Confederación Milicia to keep an eternal watch from both the walkways of a hi-tech bunker to the streets of their own city. School children are taught how to maintain the aging but also continuously modified defensive infrastructure in place that has protected the PCA for generations, and every adult usually spends a few months manning and patrolling the various Andean fortifications and super guns. Confederate Commissars armed with pleasure gas and whips maintain order within and between the various militia groups, as well as on the streets of the proletarian communities by keeping an eye out for reactionary agents that hope to harm the PCA, notably those from the Tripartite Union, and send them and any uncovered cells out to BDI territories. Andean fishermen have also taken to serving as the Coast Guard, fishing for their village on one hand and facing off against smugglers with trawler armed with autocannons on the other. In the People's Struggle, life and war go hand in hand.

Currently the People's Confederation of the Andes is beginning to send volunteers to the semi-secret Galactic Vanguard program across the Galaxy to spread the word of communism and fight corporate and bourgeoisie corruption. Augmented with cybernetics, taught extensively in Marxist theory, and armed with a large-ass gun, these Galactic Vanguards can go toe to toe with the Free States of America's Star Marshals. Another issue is the escalating conflict between the BDI and Gaia that is beginning to bleed over into the PCA's territory. While they hope to maintain neutrality, the Worker's Congress knows that one day they will have to choose between the human crypto-fascists of the Brazilian Defense Initiative, or the egalitarian, ecofriendly but alien and possibly Tyxan-leaning Gaia. Whichever they chose will lead to harsh, long-lasting consequences that could hurt the PCA.
Brazilian Defense Initiative
The Eternal War against the semi-sentient, hostile, and mostly rainforest ecosystem dubbed Gaia has turned the former countries of Brazil, Venezuela, Paraguay, Uruguay, and parts of Argentina into a militaristic organization that prioritizes survival over all else. All citizens are expected to take part in the Human Reclamation Project at some point of their life, donning NBC suits to prevent dangerous spores from coming into their systems and keeping the encroaching vines and roots from slowly but steadily ripping apart building structures and roads by flamethrower and acid hoses. Gaia is ever evolving, whispering secrets to her animal and plant children on how to best fight against the invasive humans and their fort settlements. Aside from the malevolent natural forces, the military and settlers are at odds with the indigenous tribes, who have not only survived and mastered life out in Gaia, but have also discovered Magick similar to that found in Mars. Every day in the Brazilian Defense Initiative is a war against Motherfucking Nature.

Capital: Fort Sao Paulo
Population: ~110 million (mostly Humans and a small Tybrid population with a base of Pkartan mercenaries somewhere in the Amazon Basin)
Currency: The Peso
Language: Portuguese, Spanish, Various Native languages and hybrids
Government: Generals and Military Officers command the BDI, with the constitutional federal government under their rule
Cloning/Uploading Status: Mandated to maintain population against Gaia's attacks
Economic Focus: Biomass and drugs of all sorts.
Military Focus: Chemical Warfare-trained conscripts, special environment warfare
Tyxan Hybrid (Tybrid) Status: Considered a sad byproduct of Tyxan mutation, but gives them legal rights (and conscription) regardless.

Just like the Central American countries, the South Americans east of the Andes produced many brave men and women who sacrificed their lives in the initial and risky colonization of the Solar System, and fought with futile valor against the Tyxan invasion of Earth. Thanks to a rejuvenated and healed Rainforest, the South Americans provided lots of pharmaceutical products and helped advance medicine greatly. This came with a dark secret few in the System Defense Coalition knew about: The Rainforests of South America, dubbed Gaia after the rampant reforestation project that healed it, became sentient of sort and gained a sort of hive mind consciousness that many animals and flora seem to obey. Scientists theorized it might be due to an invisible biome made from both the pollution and the chemicals that counteracted with it, and secret research projects were done in order to figure out what Gaia was. But sadly the Tyxan appearance in the Solar System delegated all manpower and research to the defense of Earth.

When it became clear that Earth was lost, the Brazilians and their other Gaia Cover Up buddies quickly built domed defensive cities that go underground, believing the density of Gaia would keep the Tyxans away. Little did they know that Gaia was an absolute vacation spot for the Tyxans, who came and settled in the rainforests in droves, picking off those who couldn't get into the armored domes before laying siege on the domes themselves. Many fell, but some managed to hold off or simply not interest the Tyxans who were beginning to get busy manipulating with Gaia itself, forcing extremely rapid evolution and mutations, not heeding the birth screams of this new entity. Gaia suffered from the warring between the humans and the Tyxans that caused pain to her, and lashed out with full force. Animals began attacking both sides, and mutated plants once trembling before the DNA-altering strokes of this alien race began poisoning their creators or begin moving to choke the life out of their victims. Survivors unlucky to get in the forts, tribes, and Tyxans who could not get escape this hell began to band together and made a pact with Gaia, respecting her domain in return for the power to whisper into the ears of the Three-eyed cat, to know the secret of eating the Deathbloom, and to sleep under the stars without fear of being devoured by the roots of the trees.

The domed cities on the other hand were not so lucky, being constantly assaulted by the very environment. More and more compounds perished from Gaia's Wrath, those that survived were forced to take drastic measures such as conscription, corpse recycling, capital punishment, and wanton chemical warfare to their perimeters. These surviving cities began to become more and more militant and absorbed smaller groups for their expendable manpower and resources until an alliance between the domed cities and forts was made. Since the most powerful domes were in Brazil and the alliance signing took place there, this unified group of South American contingency governments and settlements became known as the Iniciativa de Defesa Brasileiroor, commonly known within and throughout as the Brazilian Defense Initiative (BDI, which even the Spanish and Portuguese speaking population uses to term it). A Scorched Earth policy began, and rather than save the rainforests, its death or absolute submission became the solution for the survival of the BDI's populations. The military became the forefront of all decision making, and even when the Aeiou came to bargain better technology for the BDI to start having more civil government, the generals are the real power.

Because of the war against Gaia, Economy and Military are one and the same. While some horticulture is done within the safety of domed farms, most of the good plants used for potent medicines and drugs must be taken from the outside, which is rife with danger. All citizens are conscripted to burn the ever encroaching forests and harvest carefully that which can be used in medicine or drugs. Armored cargo planes with turrets mounted all over fight off large and fast flying bugs and corrosive acid spitting reptiles as they bring their lucrative cargo to their neighbors as the only spaceport is solely used for military purposes. The plant matter and animal corpses not turned into ash or dissolved in the initial chemical and thermal attack are taken and further processed into potent fertilizer to be exported on Earth and beyond the stars. It is this nutritious biomass and the dangerously sought after medicinal plants that fill the treasury of the BDI to continue its eternal war against Gaia. The BDI is also willing to capture and sell exotic animals to high paying buyers, and the animal trade is another lucrative industry for the militant nation.

Life in the Brazilian Defense Initiative is wracked with fear and service. Each child knows how to patch a leak in the domes and wield acidic pesticide by their teens. Life is regimented and supplies rationed to stretch the ever-reducing resources of the domes. Military comes first, so civilians must make due with second-hand and subpar items. While not a police state, telecommunications is limited to preserve energy and bandwidth for military use and most make due with old Unix servers for their internet connection. Due to the large number of the population being part of the military in one form or another military life and culture do bleed into civilian life, and regimentation and corporal punishment is a normal factor in BDI life. The one thing that seems to break the spartan lifestyle of the BDI citizen is Football, and every FIFA World Cup the military and pseudo-civil government loosens restrictions on Telecommunications to allow citizens to spread patriotic fervor across the world for their National Team, free food and cheap wine is distributed, and games are either streamed at work or employees are given half days for holiday. Brazil currently holds the most championships, holding about twenty titles, and they plan to continue that trend.

Due to the predicament with Gaia, the Mandatory Defense Forces is one of the most advanced military in almost all of the Americas. Trained and equipped to use the ubiquitous self-repairing armored hazmat suit, the flame and acid thrower, and heavy battle rifle used to take down large beasts or shoot at hostile tribesmen through the thick foliage, the average private already has prior training from their time as a conscript in the annual burning and harvesting of Gaia. Divisions of soldiers are usually sent via helicopter or by foot to continue fighting against Gaia's creatures and her human/Tybrid allies, who are said to hold mystical powers over nature while at best using old bolt action rifles, Kalashnikovs, or captured BDI weaponry. Due to the extremely dense forests surrounding all the domed cities, mechanized warfare is virtually impossible and the armed forces must rely on either air support to transport troops via long distances or go by foot. The Army Air Corps do scheduled napalm and chemical bombings on Gaia to weaken an ever-rejuvenating and angry ecosystem, and troop transports are armed to the teeth to face encounters with flying creatures or provide immediate air support to ground troops. Special Operation teams trained in Mexico are used to scout out areas, work alongside military science groups to better understand Gaia and how to kill her more, and to eliminate particularly pesky tribes deep in the jungle. The Aeiou see the BDI as the perfect chemical warfare specialist and hazard environment soldier, sending BDI-trained troops to hostile planets or when Tyxans mutated the environment to become hostile to enemies and some deforestation is needed.

Currently the BDI is waging a two war front. On one end a unconventional war against a chief that have united many of the Gaian tribes and have begun ambushing air routes and armed patrols, striking with fierce spear and rifle strikes while mounted on large reptiles and mammals before vanishing into the thick forests, who no matter how many villages were purged by the BDI, keep coming back in large numbers. Rumors of magical powers bestowed upon these tribal people by Gaia have been hell to morale, since reports of malfunctioning guns, bullets passing through elite bow-wielding warriors, and spontaneous combustion have been more common lately. On the other is a grueling bug war against a large, ever-evolving and adapting arachnid race who have begun to learn the art of flanking and ranged warfare by spitting acid at people. Gaialogians believe that this race, which they call the Arahna Morte in Portuguese or Arana Muerte in Spanish, is the manifestation of Gaia's evolving wrath against humanity and using human concepts and a mockery of civilization against them with these bugs. Leading the fight against both foes is General Alfonso Quezada, who at times personally joins the fight in his own personal super gunship, the Libélula, and is never seen without his mean ass coffee mug in hand.

Welcome, friend, Welcome and thank you for choosing the Tripartite Tourist Travelogue for all your information needs about our great and wonderful land!

Ahem, so a little history. The grand System Defense Coalition decided to bestow the great burden of storing their toxic chemicals in the poor nations of Suriname, Guyana, and French Guinea, who could not say no. Due to the daunting task ahead of them the three nations decided to form an alliance to share infrastructure to make containing and processing the hazardous materials easier. It was under the first Romao, a petrochemical magnate who was losing his business due to renewable energy, that helped the Tripartite Union become the wealthy paradise it is today. The Romao family became extremely wealthy and paved the way for O Presidente's ascension in the future, and when the vile Tyxans came it was the Romaos who protected the Tripartite Union with chemical warfare and funded our brave forefathers to fight valiantly and push the alien scum back to their ships, whimpering in fear of us.

Alas, vile treachery was what caused much tragedy after our victory against the Tyxans. Rebel scum began sabotaging our processing plants and polluted our beloved lands. To make matters worse, the Brazilian Defense Initiative's recklessness caused Gaia to attack our beloved lands. Dark thoughts of sedition and disloyalty were rife in these trying times that many call the Dark Centuries, but our brave leaders tried to hold on to what little civilization they could maintain. It was then that brave Enrico Salvazar Ramoa took the throne and persuaded the newborn BDI, MesoAmericans, and the communists in Andes to use the Tripartie Union for chemical disposal and recycling in return for resources and technology. Our neighbors rejoiced at a place to turn their mistakes into miracles. When the Aeiou came they were amazed at our efficiency and bestowed upon our glorious leader cloning technology so that he and his wonderful family may live forever in return for cleansing the world of the chemical filth of other lands in dedicated storage and processing facilities before sell back cheap recycled chemical. Thanks to our quick-thinkig O Presidente, we have become a rich and wonderful nation under the benign and fatherly rule of the eternal O Presidente and the Compliance Officers who maintain his will!

Life in the Tripartite Union is absolutely otimo, friend! You don't need to worry about things like dilemmas or hard choices, for O Presidente and his loyal legislative and judicial branch will do all the choices for you! You need not fear not crime, for our Compliance Officers work around the clock to monitor you with the help of surveillance drones and 360 degree panoramic HD cameras you didn't even know existed; If you feel like your having seditious and possibly erotic thoughts for O Presidente, report to our Tourist Help Services immediately! If you're simply having erotic thoughts, please keep them to yourselves! Within your brochure will be a voucher for your complimentary tracking chip to be installed at the Help Services so that we can keep track of you at all times so you don't get lost or stumble on highly restricted areas that may get you processed. After implanting be sure to use your voucher to get a 10% discount on all of the twenty tourist-approved restaurants, and I would recommend not going into any of our local ones; your healthcare plan will not cover that. If you are wondering why the streets seem so empty, it is because our diligent citizens are at work in their assorted times which coincidentally doesn't overlap with your touring schedule! No reason at all, we just don't like traffic jams between citizens and tour guides! We have the best Football team second only to the Brazilians, don't let the FIFA scum with their sabotaging ways fool you: our team is NOT filled with drug abuse and bribing referees.

To keep our beloved chemical-processing infrastructure and O Presidente safe, our Armed Forces come in three tiers. The first tier deals with public safety and correct thinking under the Compliance Officers. The most loyal of men are given the best arsenal second only to the Exo-Armaduras and tasked with keeping the peace and preventing sedition from sprouting out of control. To this end they are experts in surveillance, espionage, and counter-espionage. You can identify them by their blood red padded kevlar suit with their Serpent-like helmets, wielding their large blast batons and hand-held Lacerators as they protect us all from enemies within and without. The second Tier is the Grandes Forces Armadas, our general military forces. Our aerodyne vehicles granted free from the Dynastic Kingdom of China's junkyards, our ships having epic histories from even before the formation of the System Defense Coalition, our tanks as powerful as the impressive American Abrams M1A1s, and our Battle Rifles even more streamlined than those used in the Holy DMZ Administrative District, our forces are to be feared! The third tier is O Presidente's personal all-female super soldiers, the Exo-Armaduras. Equipped with hand-crafted suits that protect these beautiful flowers while showcasing and displaying their feminine side, each Exo-Armaduras is trained in state-of-the-art simulations and war games with all manners of weaponry and martial arts. Not only are they skilled in protecting O Presidente, they are also his personal aides and take care of all his needs for normal servants are not to be trusted!

So please friend, come visit our wonderful lands. We'll guide you to how we keep the environment safe with our wondrous processing plants, show you all the landmarks of our great Union, and let you meet our happy citizens! Unlike the other nations, the Tripartite Union has no real dangers or flaws and if you ever need to ta-

I have to admit this is very, very interesting.

Considering the Central and South American countries were big players in the System Defense Coalition, were the North Americans also big players in it?

I also enjoy how the MesoAmerican League are essentially Catholic Aztecs, without the nasty blood sacrifice. :D

North America was a pretty big player, but Europe and China were much more prevalent in SDC politics and administration, and were the hardest hit (and therefore came out the weirdest) by the Tyxans.

How transhuman is Earth humanity here in general? I understand in a lot of places mind uploading and such is legal and allowed, along with cloning, but has that changed some things in human society? Like do most people having something akin to a cortical stack to upload them to when they get killed so they can be revived in a cloned body?

Are there governments where the "Old Guard" sit around forever because they won't die off naturally due to transhumanism?

Transhumanism is a bit common here with robot sentience, cloning, uploads, and "Ghosts". That being said, the Aeiou made sure to keep societal change from correlating with those advances in any way other than what is beneficial to war or economics. So vast pollution factories are filled with Worker John Tucker 21039 while the Elite pumped with longetivity drugs and implants enjoy a life of decadence, or have robotic soldiers fight in the trenches alongside organic soldiers in the many low intensity wars in the Holy DMZ before they are all swept up in Crusade Ships to fight in some outlying system with bolt action rifles and machetes.

As for Immortals... :-)

You know what I want to see here from humans of either planet? Uplifts. Yes want to see our animal friends join us in killing space elves.

Also part of me is imagining a story where here a human and some uplift get ISOT'd to David Brin's Upliftverse.
