The Greeg Dominants

Post by Heretic »

Author note: I swear, this article is cursed. Three Blue Screens of Death, two times I forgot to log in before submitting, and all sorts of real life stuff happening have prevented me from writing this article for so long and in a much better manner.

I JUST WANT TO POST THIS CRAP ALREADY.

The Story of the Greeg

One of the Gloguk's greatest flaws is its narrow-minded obsession in the elimination of the Tyxans. Many of our racial histories are rife with Tyxans being the antagonists, the ever so real boogieman mothers and caretakers talk about who kidnap children if they do not behave. The Tyxans are a threat to our physical and cultural existence, yes, but if we do not pay attention to our surroundings we might find ourselves one day victorious against our eternal enemy, only to turn around and find ourselves chained and obeying a new master. Greeting us to our enslavement would be pillbug overlords who at one point in their history murdered their eldritch gods in their long slumber for demanding one too many tithes.
-John Catherack, Author of Homicidal Pillbugs from Hell: The Greeg Domiants and why they're the Greatest Threat to the Gloguk
The Greeg Dominant story begins with murder, because that was when the Greegs decided it was worth recording their history. Anything before, when the young pillbug were just like any other race and not doing cool things like galactic conquest or being fawned upon, is not consider worthwhile.

The story goes that the Greegs once worshiped powerful entities who reigned supreme over their little section of space. Whatever the gods demanded, the Greeg gave. While extremely advanced in terms of technology and flush with resources and conquests, the primitive Greegs were still puny pawns for their gods.

That changed when the gods of the ancient Greegs demanded the very sun of the large Armadillidiidas' native system. The Greegs were enraged. They gave their lives, their time; hell, the Greegs even gave the gods the secret of the galaxy itself. But to demand the one thing they cherished, the loving sun they all sunbathe in and get their food from was the last straw. So in anger, the Greeg gave the gods their beloved sun by moving it from the physical realm to whatever dimension those entities resided. As the Greeg's former gods screamed burning curses as their paradise turned into an eternal hell, the Greegs took to the stars and began enjoying their newly acquired freedom. Renaming themselves the Greeg Dominants, the alien race conquered and rampaged across the galaxy with wanton glee, forming hundreds of small empires. The Tyxan BioCommonwealth, newly formed from the Purist faction of the ancient Progenitor race, tried to crush the small and pesky micro empires in their infant state, but the Greeg Dominants managed to survive and push back the Tyxans even without sullying their egomaniacal hands with things like alliances with the other Greegs. When the Gloguk came into the scene, the Tyxans quickly diverted their attention to face their old mistakes, leaving the varying and multitude of Greeg polities, called Greeg Spaces, to thrive.

Due to the large and scattered number of Greeg Spaces, we will discuss only a few of the relevant or interesting ones here.

THE ILLUMINATION OF FERROK-FERROK- Existing in the same system as the Vgar-Ki's native homeworld of Perr-Terr, the Illumination of Ferrok-Ferrok is in a constant jihad against the Vgar-Ki. Ferrok-Ferrok, the immortal God-Priest of the Illumination of Ferrok-Ferrok and Beholder of the Truth that All Who Follow are Godhoods in themselves and Must Test Themselves Against the Vgar-Ki Demonic Persona, was once a young clone who was part of the lowly working class residing in the lowest and most degrading part of their colony ship. But when the ship inadvertently crashed into the Vgar-Ki's homeworld, the Vgar-Ki that still lived there quickly swarmed the intruders and killed many of the Greeg Dominant colonists. The surviving Greeg Dominant fought back, hunkering down and fortifying their crashed ship. Fighting from corridor to bloody corridor, where ship decks changed hands every hour, the Greeg Dominants managed to push away the technologically inferior but numerically superior Vgar-Ki from the deeper compartments of the colony ship, and began inhabiting and securing the little space they had free from the enemy. It was during this time that Ferrok-Ferrok rose as a prominent soldier to fight against Vgar-Ki incursions. During one battle to protect one of the common mess hall, Ferrok-Ferrok was severely wounded by the raiders' leader and lost three appendages. Not deterred by such trifling setbacks, Ferrok-Ferrok quickly attached a cooking torch, a butcher knife, and beam cutter used for cutting bulkheads to his wounded appendages and quickly went back to the fighting. For two hours the Greeg Dominants fought against Vgar-Ki, and when the smoke finally cleared, Ferrok-Ferrok was the only remaining, his fingers grasping the beheaded and scorched head of the raid's leader. Rising in fame and power due to repeated successes against Vgar-Ki incursions, Ferrok-Ferrok gained more followers and access to better resources. Soon, after a decade fighting in the colonial ship that brought him here and now filled with areas destroyed and rebuilt with junk brought during battles or the bodies of the vanquished, Ferrok-Ferrok and the survivors that followed him (those that did not were torched long ago) at last gained complete and total control of their downed and ruined ship.

Peering at an alien star receding in the horizon for the first time despite living in Perr-Terr for almost two decades, Ferrok-Ferrok turned to his people and gave a stunning revelation: He, and the survivors of this land, were gods. Only gods could survive such a hell and flourish in spite of it all. And so, the theocratic Greeg Space of the Illumination of Ferrok-Ferrok was born. For a hundred years, the immortal God-Priest and his increasing followers wage eternal war against the Vgar-Ki, proving time and again they themselves are worthy of self-worship. Even the most insane and stalwart of Vgar-Ki tribes and warbands respect this group of Greeg Dominant.

Some social scientists even speculate the Vgar-Ki are gradually developing an almost supernatural, dare I say religious, meme concerning the Illumination of Ferrok-Ferrok that refuse to die off their native homeworld. And this is frightening because in Vgar-Ki metaculture, memes should be unleashed at their full capacity, regardless of whether it is beneficial or harmful to the Vgar-ki. If Ferrok-Ferrok is believed to be a powerful god sent to test the Vgar-ki....

THE HOUNDS OF VANTOGEEKMASS- The Hounds of Vantogeekmass are unique in that they aren't an empire themselves, but rather a large mercenary outfit full of Greeg Dominants and non-Greeg subordinates they call "thralls". Headquartered in their long, sleek, and elegantly fashioned spaceship Vantogeekmass Valiant, the Hounds ply their trade in the Free Arm area, that patchwork of smaller empires and states that do not owe allegiance to Gloguk, Tyxan, or Greeg Dominant control. The Greeg Dominant personnel pilot large, lithe living synthetic machines called Darkymes, while their thralls fill non-Darkyme combat roles like tanks or fill logistical roles. Here Vantogeekmass and his Hounds wage war all across the Free Arm to the highest paying clients.

The history of the Hounds of Vantogeekmass is a simple and short one. Vantogeekmass, Ruler of a Dozen Systems and Destroyer of the 221st Galactic Conquest Fleet, decided that a Greeg Dominant of his caliber should no longer trifle with simple games of galactic warfare and blasting planetary systems to submission. Vantogeekmass decided to take on the true challenge of the galaxy: FInding a way to subjugate the Free Arm, that sector of space that embodies geopolitical and decentralized clusterfucks. Realizing that conventional conquests have repeatedly failed, he decided to go unorthodox. Selling his empire to fellow Greeg Dominants in return for funding and powerful equipment like his Vantogeekmass Valiant ship and the Darkymes, Vantogeekmass took the most loyal of his Greeg Dominant to be his Darkyme pilots while bringing non-Greeg subjects to keep the ship functioning. With that, Vantogeekmass quickly scoured the patchwork of planet-states and warring systems to master his trade as a soldier of fortune while figuring out how the Free Arm ticks.

The question is: Is Vantogeekmass mastering the Free Arm states, or is the Free Arm slowly assimilating the Greeg Dominant and his mercenaries into its fold? It is true that 99 percent of the Free Arm now knows of the name of Vantogeekmass, a feat remarkable in t extremely anarchic and uncaring Free Space; presidents and priest-kings, wizards and warlords alike kneel to the Hounds of Vantogeekmass in order to use their power even temporarily in order to utterly annihilate their neighbors and foes. But in turn, Vantogeekmass has become more and more involved in the culture(s) of the Free Arm and while still an egoistical pillbug, has been acting somewhat different. He has also at times forgotten the true and original purpose of his journey into the Free Arm, losing himself to the adventures that this sector of space has to offer.

THE THEGGGATH IMPERIUM- Ruled by Empress Thegggath the Illustrious and Noble Greeg Dominant who Discovered the Augment Machine during her years as a Co-Ruler of the Plutorimthik Coalition before promptly Eliminating Her other Sisters and Forming the Thegggath Imperium during the 412nd year of the Auto Calender, The Thegggath Imperium is special in that it is the closest to an unified Greeg front. Consisting of Greeg Space paying fealty to the Empress, The Imperium gains the ability of having more than one Greeg Space work for them in return for giving each of the loyal leaders of these Greeg Spaces very ancient and very powerful genetic and cybernetic argumentation that amaze even the near-Singularity Greeg Dominant. Empress Thegggath gained access to this powerful technology from a planet on the very edge of the galaxy. Some sort of portable machine the size of a house, this device will rip apart the subject and put in place a vast variety of genetic and cybernetic implants which are in many ways more advanced and powerful than even that of the Greeg. Of course, the more powerful augmentations were kept off limit except to the Empress herself and a select few loyal retainers.

Comprised of a hundred or so Greeg Dominant-owned systems run by thousands of Greeg Dominants and housing a billion non-Greeg second citizens, the Thegggath Imperium doesn't have the strongest space fleet (the Luxtorramm Armada takes that title) or have the largest and best army (that would go to the Xiillmik Swarm Legions), but the Thegggath Imperium have the logistics and the economy to become a coordinated threat to the galaxy. The Thegggath Imperium can wage blockades against Gloguk worlds while simultaneously doing planetside ground operations against the Tyxan BioCommonwealth, while having time to spare to ship out merchant fleets filled subpar weaponry into the Free Arm that sell at a premium (since the backwater and remote places they sell to have no choice; it's either buy or die.). But while the Thegggath Imperium is strong and versatile, it's Greeg Dominant nature has caused wars on many fronts to occur, as well as sporadic rebellions by the citizens and treachery by rogue Greegs. Resources, Greegpower, and nonGreegpower have been stretched thin to keep their enemies at bay.

Worse still, as of late the Augmentation machine that the Empress used as the foundation of her empire is said to be malfunctioning and weakening more and more. It is only a matter of time before it lays quiet forever, destroying the Imperium in turn.

THE JIFFM-PATAP IMPERIOUS REPUBLICS
- Ruled by the newcomer Jiffm-Patap the Most Illustrious, the second cousin of one of the most powerful Greeg Dominant warlords out there, the Jiffm-Patap Imperious Republics is considered the most hated of the Greeg Spaces the Gloguk. Not because they committed atrocities on a grand scale or threatened to destroy the Gloguk (though the Most Illustrious hopes to do so one day), but because the Jiffm-Patap Imperious Republics have an obnoxious habit of actually helping the people they conquer, like rebuilding infrastructure, having the children go to Jiffm-Patap schools for quality education and indoctrination, and even giving governmental positions to non-Greeg Domiant races! This has the side effect of having the subjects under the Jiffm-Patap Imperious Republics being more loyal to their captors than to their former polity such as the Gloguk or the Tyxan BioCommonwealth. This gives the Imperious Republics access to versatile manpower and technologies, such as reckless Vgar-Ki raiding parties and fearsome Tyxan Genesis Ships.

The Illustrious Jiffm-Patap had an equally illustrious history. Said to be born of natural means in the middle of a urban war zone in Gloguk space, the newborn grub was left for dead by his parents due to the amount of resources he would consume. Fortunately he was taken in by a gang of street urchins who cared little for the politics of the empire that cast them out, and thus thought of nothing about taking in the Gloguk's enemy. Jiffm-Patap, despite being naturally vainglorious and at times insufferable, learned to survive and even thrive in the deep and forgotten areas of the city that no one bothered to renovate. But tragedy stuck when a rival gang ambushed Jiffm-Patap's friends and killed all but the Greeg Dominant, who exacted revenge against them. All alone now and nowhere to go, Jiffm-Patap stowed away in a freight ship before single handily capturing it and venturing off into the nearest Greeg Space. Upon arrival he was captured and taken before the leader of the small empire he was in. By sheer coincidence or miracle the Greeg Dominant in charge was none other than Jiffm-Patap's cousin, who was so amused after looking at the genetic readouts that the emperor gave his cousin a small fleet and a few battalions of non-Greeg Dominant soldiers and said that Jiffm-Patap was free to do as he pleased once he went and destroyed the small colony planet Jiffm-Patap's parents ruled. Eager to flex his newly gained powers and get revenge on his progenitors who he believed kept him away from his true inheritance, Jiffm-Patap destroyed his parents and their government by dropping the rare destroyer given to him right on the palace. There was only a crater where the palace grounds were, and the capital was flattened by the nuclear blast.

His task now completed, Jiffm-Patap began his new Greeg Space with his parents' planet as its homeworld. Remembering how it was non Greeg Dominants who helped him, Jiffm-Patap the Most Illustrious spares many of the native populations of the planets he conquers and bestows more freedoms and rights to them than most of the other Greeg Spaces. Remembering that it was non-Greeg Dominants that also almost killed him, Jiffm-Patap made sure they were still second-class citizens. Finally remembering that it was also Greeg Dominants who tried to kill him before he was even able to wiggle, Jiffm-Patap required all the system governments under his autocratic rule to have an election mechanism to allow any member of any race be in charge; this way neither Greeg Dominant nor non Greeg Dominant feel safe, knowing the role of Ruler and Ruled is not set in stone. Thus, the Jiffm-Patap Imperious Republics was born and as more planetary systems come under its rule, the more versatile this Greeg Space's military and economic might becomes.

Rumors have it that a massive tourist program is being implemented in the Imperious Republics. Already Gloguk and Tyxan intelligence learned that POWs were put under extensive "Theme Park" and "Special Visitor Offer" programs. Despite the hefty discounts for the whole family, free stays at 5 star resorts, and "family-friendly guided tours" there has been a 70 percent insanity rate of the loyal prisoners who had to be put down or incarcerated in mental asylums once returned or rescued from Jiffm-Patap camps. A small percentage of the inmates turned traitor and became enthralled by the paradise brought in front of them. Analysts fear that if this Jiffm-Patap tourism program was to be improved and implemented to the public, money might be siphoned into the Imperious Republics and illegal emigration might increase threefold. Luckily for the enemies of Jiffm-Patap, the leader of this Greeg Space hasn't realized that soap operas detailing his everyday life aren't all that popular.

THE UNENDING SCREECH- The Dark Scourge is one of the most terrifying races in the Milky Way Galaxy. Hailing from Deep Space beyond the rim of the galaxy, the Dark Scourge comprises of a trillion space-faring ever-evolving horrors bent on destabilizing the Galaxy's genetics into corrupted and accelerated evolutions, devolutions, and revolutions with little cause and effect. Such a menace would have become a major power in the Milky Way if not for the Greeg Dominant abomination called the Unending Screech. The Undending Screech was once an ancient Greeg Dominant Space said to have been the first Greeg Dominant polity in existence, since the days even before the Greeg Dominants scorched their gods. This extremely advanced polity, small in number compared to the Dark Scourge avalanche, nonetheless waged relentless war, destroying whole sectors of space with a wave of an appendage to deny their enemy resources and even used prototype time machines to continuously redo any errors. But in the end, the Dark Scourge won and utterly obliterated this ancient civilization and turned the surviving lifeforms into a primordial soup that could never stabilize before leaving.

Unfortunately for the Dark Scourge, the Greeg Dominants were not gonna simply lie down and die. Racked with mutations and suffering from an ever-growing list of maladies, the survivors began fighting Dark Scourge stragglers on their planet with their newfound razor-tipped tentacles and thermonuclear crossbows. Considered at first a pest at first that refuses to be assimilated, the Dark Scourge sent small fleets to subdue these sorta Greeg Dominant monsters but none succeeded; all were defeated and consumed by this new anomaly. This Greeg Dominant abomination was called the Unending Screech by Gloguk scouts who observed them while exploring the outer edges of the Milky Way, due to the way the whole planet's electromagnetic vibrations sounding like a perpetual screech.

More and more Dark Scourge resources were put into defeating the Unending Screech, and soon the whole planet became a battlefield as shambling shapeshifting zombies fought centaur-like pillbugs who wielded swords made from the ancient hulls of battle fortresses while while spitting acid. Biological nightmares fought biological nightmares, and soon the whole planet was covered in the dead and dying. More Dark Scourge fleets entered the planet, more Unending Screeches were birthed from the pulsing ground made from the living and dead. The whole planet in the end became a mass of writhing organic material sprinkled with inorganic wreckage, a living body with the antibiotic Undending Screech fighting the viral Dark Scourge in an eternal war. Thus ends the story of the Dark Scourge, who devolved and meshing with the Unending Screech in an eternal strangle that encompasses every inch of the large, living planet.

Those who venture near the Unending Screech are said to never return, but many are willing to pay handsomely for samples of the biological makeups of the planet, and many are willing to go on expeditions into the nightmareish world. While mostly contained, sometimes (as in every day) parts of the planet is flaked off and sent hurtling into space at startling speeds that are difficult to catch by those desiring of the specimens. While many can survive the vacuum of space by hibernating, these flakes rarely hit a planet.
Physiology
II wouldn't be surprised if the pill bugs curled up into balls in order to suck their own genitals. It lines up with their personalities.
-Anonymous Gloguk sergeant
The Greeg Dominant have many shapes and forms due to their extensive use of genetic, cybernetic, and narcotic technologies ranging from hulking, almost Mammalian beings to lithe, centipede-like beings with large mandibles, but the baseline for the Greeg Dominant is thus: Imagine a pill bug standing crouched but upright with the help of duck-like limbs and hands with five fingers on their top limbs. Their series of armored plates on their carapace are extremely durable and tough, allowing them to shrug off many ballistic rounds. The mandibles are able to crack rock with ease, and the antennas on their head have been modified to pick up the slightest of vibrations from up to a kilometer away, thus making silent stealth missions against the Greeg practically impossible. The Greeg Dominant can protect themselves even more by rolling up into a ball, using senses other than sight as they roll with precision.

Reproduction varies from cloning to asexual splitting to parasitism to sexual reproduction by either binary or hermaphroditic means. There is little sexual dimorphism and only Greeg Dominants can tell which is female and which is not (or in non-binary societies, whoever can get impregnate). Eggs usually come in batches of a dozen, and are hatched as adults except without specific limbs. The average lifespan of a Greeg Dominant is at least a few hundred years old, but many perish from the trials of life. Rumors of thousand year old Greeg Dominants exist, but no actual reports have yet confirmed such allegations and the Greeg Dominants don't usually part such information even if they knew of it.

Originally foragers of decomposed plant matter, the Greeg Dominants have become omnivorous, some even altering themselves to simply gain sustenance from solar energy, radiation, or even sound (which has horrifying implications).
The Legendary Greeg Dominant Homeworld
So?
-A Greeg Dominant's response to a threat directed at their ancient home
Ground Zero of the pill bugs, whose original name has been lost but given many names by the Greeg Dominants, this planet is said to be one of the most advanced in the galaxy, with each dead city powered by a star frozen in the moment of supernova, where algae grown in ways to cure a trillion types of ailments and form feasts with only a thought of a nearby individual. Each house was a world and each room a kingdom, as the legends go. Even the planets in the same orbit of the Greeg Dominant homeworld were said to be galactic treasures in their own way, the jewels that a thousand races tried to conquered but failed. When the Greeg Dominants left, it is said they hurled their star into another dimension to eternally torment their gods before leaving this paradise. Questions arise on why the Greeg Dominants decided to leave such a heaven behind even with such demanding deities, and studying the sparse and conflicting Greeg Dominant legends have come up with disturbing notions that the Tyxan scholars and idealists who study them would rather leave buried in the ground of theory....

Aside from the fact that Greeg Dominant homeworld is a stationary rogue planet sitting somewhere in the edges of the galaxy, nothing else is known. Only a few Greeg Dominants know anything about their origin point aside from the various embellishments of the "throw a sun at the gods" myth, and even those with an inkling of the truth usually put themselves in some way (direct ancestor, wielding a weapon from the native homeworld, etc) narrative.
Government

Have you ever seen a Greeg Dominant anarchic society? Fucking surreal.
-Anonymous

Greeg Dominant governments in Greeg Space are varied as the stars, but all are characterized with rampant narcissism, corruption, megalomania, manipulation, and propaganda. While this sounds like any typical government, Greeg Dominants have elevated such banana republic tendencies to an art form. All Greeg Dominant governments usually lean toward the autocratic side of things, but democratic Greeg Spaces do exist but are rife with blackmailing, bribery, blatant gerrymandering, parliamentary civil wars, riots, poll rigging, and artificially-induced populism. Greeg Dominant democracies will do anything to get their Greeg Dominant candidate in the seat of power. In the rare case a Non-Greeg Dominant candidate is elected, the Greeg Dominants will do their best to either ruin that administration if they can't become the hands behind the puppet so to speak.

Greeg Dominant anarchic and libertarian societies do exist, though are very rare and most attempts usually devolve into warlordism where the winner establishes a new government. Anarchist Greeg Dominants are still bent on conquest and domination, but not in any political sense. Due to the taboo on pure brute force in solving things in an anarchic society, Greeg Dominant anarchic societies do other things to express their natural tendencies. Contests between individuals and/or groups (depending whether you fall on the left or right of the political spectrum) in sports, bets, lethal and nonlethal duels, children card games, cooking contests, and virtually everything and anything can be used to compete for resources, services, or the defeated as tonight's dinner. Non-Greeg Dominants have a much higher chance of thriving in these rare anarchic societies than in other types of Greeg governments, but that's if they can manage to keep a modicum of sanity.

Military
IT BURNS...IT BURNS...
-Last transmission of Sgt. Bridgerton of the 2353th Galactic Conquest Fleet.

With so many Greeg Spaces existing in the Milky Way Galaxy, Greeg Dominant militaries are all different, from professional Mechanized Infantry supported by large drone bombers to hordes of reptile-riding cavalry whose most advanced weaponry are Searing Rifles in the hands of the Warlords and their personal guard. But there are three common elements that most Greeg Dominant forces maintain, as a sort of meta-culture:

1. Due to the mythology of the searing sun from the original system Greeg Dominants came from banishing their gods, Greeg Dominants have a tendency towards heated, thermal weaponry, from primitive torches to flamethrowers to the infamous Searing Weapons that can cause burning and combustion from the inside, becoming a nightmare to vehicles with little to no temperature control. If it was thermal, Greeg Dominants were sure to use it with abundance and glee.

2. Greeg Dominant spaceships are generally surprisingly elegant and sleek, wonders of aerodynamic design contrasting to the messy, throbbing meatships of the Tyxan BioCommonwealth and the hulking blocks and other such crude jokes of ship designs that encompass the Gloguk's desire for mass production. Curved components, nice glossy textures, and spacious corridors bright with artificial light and color seem to be the norm for many Greeg Space spaceships, and even those less advanced or more barbaric do try to maintain a clean style in those ships they manage to build, recycle, or capture.

3. The desire for control over others have made backstabbing and internal strife a fairly common occurrence in Greeg Dominant societies. This includes their militaries as well. When the hierarchy of strong Greeg Dominant leaders falters and shows sign of weakness, others are quick to take advantage with more gusto than seen in even other corrupt chain of commands in other races. While many fight each other in low-intensity wars of guns and politics during times when they are not fighting the enemy and have the upper hand against said enemy, other times plots are made against each other during the heat of battle; superior forces of Greeg Dominant have been defeated by inferior foes due to sudden flank attacks by their former subordinates, and this is one weakness various Intelligence Agencies and BlackOP organizations have taken to exploiting mercilessly against the Greeg Dominants.
Religion
The Greeg Dominant have a hundred religions, but all lead to one thing: worshiping themselves.
-Anonymous

Greeg Dominants are extremely self-centered and refuse to believe they should bow themselves to anything else superior since the Greeg Dominant are the most superior life form in the Milky Way Galaxy, especially having eliminated their own supergods from the equation in their ancient history. That being said, religion is an extremely useful tool in maintaining social control of lesser species and use it willingly and with almost fanatical fervor if it makes doing things much easier with less executions and riot control. Greeg Dominants have been known to take up the faiths of many of their subjugated people or even create new ones to validate their actions. Even in theocratic Greeg Spaces exist where the Greeg Dominants themselves actually believe in their gods the Divine are simply their to be cheerleaders of the faithful, always validating the Greeg Dominants' actions.
Culture
The day isn't over until a card game in Breakfast turns into a galactic war by dinner.
-A Greeg Dominant legionnaire of the Struvuxithian Republic.

Greeg Dominant culture is filled with competition and the desire for rewards and power. Family units barely hold together by the threat of the "enemy" and the "others". Parties are fraught with power plays and peacocking each other with displays of wealth, talent, and other things. Greeg Dominants know that there will always be those on top and those below, but that doesn't mean it has to stay that way and all within Greeg Dominant societies do as much as they can to climb the ruthless ladder (Greeg Dominant left wing cultures do the same, except in groups rather than individually or clan).

I like this! The Greeg kind of remind me of being like a mixture of orks and eldar. They have the technological sophistication and aesthetics of the eldar yet they have the brutality and in-fighting of the orks. That's something you don't see everyday in science fiction with technologically advanced species.

Was that one author, John Catherack, correct when he said the Gloguk may focus too much on the Tyxans?

If one were to look at a map of the Milky Way, would there be areas you could broadly say belong to the Gloguk or the Tyxans or the Greeg, despite them being composed of many small empires and territories? Like where do most of the Gloguk or Tyxans or Greeg clump together you'd say?

The Greeg Dominant are a race that achieved a sort of singularity in their ancient past, but upon overthrowing their gods devolved into what can be akin to what a Germanic Migration tribe is to the pinnacle of the Roman Empire. So the Greeg Dominants can be considered primitive compared to what they were. If they managed to unite and regain even a fraction of their former technological infrastructure, all opposition aside from unknown factors like the Gloguk's weaponized Eldrithch abomination Dhothugkma and a few Tyxan Relics would have been easily swept away under such a Greeg Dominant force.

As for whether the Gloguk focuses too much on the Tyxans, since the Tyxans have played a very large role as the precursor of many of the Gloguk races, seeding them and sometimes guiding them to a point of genetic and technological advancement before swooping in and reverting the race back to a global hunting grounds (the reason Tyxans don't just breed the races to be docile is because it's more fun to see the survivors watch as their hopes and achievements die as the Tyxans drag their families away for processing). The Gloguk races consist of the races managed to fight back, survive and quickly rebuild, or simply get lucky and be saved by the Gloguk (as in the case of the humans). The Greeg Dominants are a threat, yes, but so are the various things that come out of the Free Arm, and the the Langrug Justice Jurisdiction is powerful enough to stop both the Tyxans and the Gloguk from taking a good chunk of the Norma Arm. The fight against the Tyxans, though, is personal. The Tyxans were fucking with them long before the Gloguk even existed, to the point Tyxans have appeared as demons and Fae Folk-esque figures in some Gloguk racial mythologies.

As for the where this is all located, I would have to say that Tyxans cover most of the rimward parts of the Sagittarius Arm and the Coreward parts of the Orion Spur, while the Gloguk take most of the rimward part of the Orion Spur (which is where humanity originates from) and a significant chunk of the Perseus Arm. The Greeg Dominant are scatted all over, but they do seem to consist of greater numbers the farther you get from the Galactic Core, indicating they originally came from the Outer Arm or at least the edge of the Perseus Arms somewhere. The Langrug Justice Jurisdiction has JumpGates dotted around the Norma Arm and the Free Arm is basically the various JumpGate-enabled systems that make up a fiercely independent geopolitical sector of the Outer Arm.

Rather than normal boundaries, I was thinking it would be more akin to a subway station's map and connect-the-dot kinda things, where the various factions' JumpGates connect across the Galaxy to each other, indicating where friendly systems are. The boundaries become more a bundle of dots indicating faction Jumpgates.

Considering the aesthetic of the Greeg Dominant, what do their JumpGateslook like? Actually what do all 3 main groups JumpGates look like? I know the Tyxan ones look like a ring of vines?

Also regarding the Greeg, now I have this image of the pillbugs killing you in stylish ways. Like have you ever played the Devil May Cry series of games? Well in those games, you can have the character do these moves that are like as if he's in an action movie and killing you in a way that is both over the top and just cool and stylish at the same time. :P Like with the Greeg, maybe through their cybernetics and technology, some are powerful enough to do things like throw you in the air and keep you afloat on a cushion of bullets or something. :D And like they use oversized guns and melee weapons. Well oversized thermal weapons. :P

Hell maybe that's one way some of the leaders of various Greeg armies do compete: being the most stylish in fighting.

Yeah, I think various races have their own JumpGate aesthetics. The Tyxan BioCommonwealth most likely have organic JumpGates, probably after decades of breeding large creatures who can basically activate FTL (The Gloguk say its basically breeding an anus that'll take you from one place to another, if ya know what I mean). They look like vines, large jellyfishes, or shapes the Gloguk makes fun of. The Gloguk on their part prefer things that look metal and circular, generic Stargate stuff.

The Greeg Dominant, on the other hand, loves to spice things up with their JumpGates. Palaces tucked on top of the structure, the corpses and war trophies of the defeated decked on the edges, and even spending millions of monetary units to even give a color tint while looking through the other side of a JumpGate. Hell, Greeg Dominant JumpGates don't even have to be thick rings. They can be square structures (which becomes hilarious when they forget to make the other JumpGate the same shape) and JumpGates can even be floating wire frames with the strength of a superstructure.

As for stylish fighting, I can see there being some and the Greeg Dominant are known to have war bling all over the place and as you said the technology/biological augmentation could allow it for these things, but generally Greeg Dominant prefer to get the job done as quickly and as cleanly as possible. They usually prefer the domination and conquest part over the butchery in warfare. That being said, there will probably be quite a few who enjoy the fighting part of things and do take it to an artistic form.

Fixed massive spoiler fuckery. How did I not find out about this until now?

Also I thought this song would be perfect for the MAJESTY of the Greeg Dominants.
