Re: REWORK
interesting on how the Civil War was different back then. Mang, I'm utterly lost in OZ Comix! now. Thank goodness for reworks. We should also have some sort of list of links or threads that is recommended for newcomers. I have a feeling the Japanese in Meiji are way different...like having a Gaijin be the last samurai, and not a fat, respected noble.

Re: REWORK
Actually, the last samurai might technically be Budoka Sakamoto Eiji, given he was a samurai during the Tokugawa shogunate and still lives to this day.Heretic wrote:I have a feeling the Japanese in Meiji are way different...like having a Gaijin be the last samurai, and not a fat, respected noble.
EDIT: Some things regarding Eiji do need to changed, however. His staff, particularly, is something I plan to work on. I'm not really satisfied with the 19 Divine Armaments.

Re: REWORK
That could work in theory, except that you have to give the U.S. a good enough reason to give then autonomy instead of them being overrun by the army and put into their place, as what happened with the Mormons and the State of Deseret. Perhaps the Austro-German terrirtories help the U.S. in exploring and exploiting the western territory, or, if they settled in the area early enough, they could have sent their own soldiers to help the Union in the Civil War, and were granted the privilage to be autonomous territories and keep their titles.Malchus wrote:I was looking at Siege's post, them my eyes switched over to his SHIELD avatar. If there were large numbers of Austro-Germanic populations who once held autonomous territories, then it'd be awesome if that actually got incorporated into their flags. I mean, it reminds me a lot of those black-colored eagles in the flags of the German Empire and Austria-Hungary.
Although, maybe instead of going "independent" it was more large groups of Austro-Germanic guys moving into what was then US territories, with stints of being somewhat autonomous? Sort of like Utah and the Mormons, if I recall US history correctly.
The more I think about it, the more awesome this concept is becoming (so much so that I might have to borrow elements of it for the American Empire in The Eternal Game).

I am going to have to rework Tasha, as there is barely any huge magical police or anything that she could take down....
maybe she could be some villainess who goes around the world (and beyond) looting and stealing rare artifacts, like psionic dino dung, alien teeth floss, and even a shoggoth in a tank.

Re: REWORK
I don't think Siege meant it as in that the Germanians had their own countries. More like... they have their own communities where outsiders really didn't bother them much.
As for Heretic's talk about Dishonorable Gaijin, I believe he touched upon a point that is very relevant to our discussions.
How so?

Re: REWORK
I never meant separate countries. Just that, in the earlier part of Comix US history, swaths of the territories which hadn't been turned to states yet had large Austro-Germanic populations with somewhat autonomous control of said peices of territory, but still technically part of the US. The "soldiers" that Magister mentioned who were sent to fight against the CSA would proabaly have been some sort of volunteer militia or something. Which wouldn't be that far removed from actual US history since, IIRC, a large part of the Germanic imigrant population actually fought against the CSA.Shroom Man 777 wrote:I don't think Siege meant it as in that the Germanians had their own countries. Although, decently-populated semi-autonomous Austro-German areas in the US would make the politics affect US involvement in WWI rather interesting to think about.
Oh, and just for some gratuitous self-promotion:

I got that. I should've specified that I was replying to Militum's post wherein he stated that Mormon secessionists had their polygamous asses handed to them by REAL Americans.

Re: REWORK
I'm guessing the any war in the middle and late industrial Revolution had steampunk style vehicles and weaponry? Did Mr. Gatling invent the machine gun? What is the Wright Brothers place in history?
History has changed soo much that I can't imagine how CapCap can still use a coffee machine. Even more disturbing is what is in the history textbooks in school.... Can some pleeassse give me an overview (or at least recommended long lost stories) about what happened between 1800 to 1996 (this whole alien invasion thingy)

Re: REWORK
The Wrights invented this self-aware bird-like flying machine.
The Wright Flyer
Also, before the 20th century and before the War of the Worlds, French and Germany had a war wherein the French used this secret clockwork robot army and the Germans had to resort to necromancers and armies of darkness.
The French hid their robot army, only to re-use it in WWI and WW2. But the robot army has been very hush-hush and few know about it.
No one knows that the King of France (France is a monarchy to this day) has a sentient clockwork supercomputer AI. A clockwork SkyNet.

Re: REWORK
Hm, that reminds me, I need to go and transfer the Flyer.
EDIT: And as for Heretic's question on Gatling, I've actually been playing around with the idea of Comixverse Gatling creating a steampunk Gatling gun carriage. Which means that Sherman's March to the Sea featured Gattling carriages taking part in the annihilation of CSA cities.

General Sherman, standing triumphantly atop a steam powered wagon mounted with a bunch of deadly Gatling guns. I love Comix! sometimes.

Re: REWORK
I think Gatling's ultimate creation should have been absolutely absurd. Something like a giant rail-carriage mounted system whereby there's a giant gatling gun, and each of its six 'barrels' is in fact a smaller Gatling gun that spins in the opposite direction to the overal mechanism, providing counter spin and stabilising the flight path of the bullets or something to make it unnaturally accurate for a goddamn huge gatling cannon.
